Your Impact:
This position is part of a team providing Integrated Logistics Support Services (ILSS) for the US Marine Corps (USMC), Marine Force Storage Command (MFSC), 1st FSB, on location at Barstow, CA.
The Material Handler performs warehouse functions for the movement and storage of assets under the direction of senior warehouse staff. The position performs the storage, inventory management, and control of assets. This includes performing the Care Of Supplies In Storage (COSIS), including the rotation, preservation, shelf life management, and routine inspection of assets to ensure their serviceable condition. Material Handlers perform clerical and physical warehouse and inventory management tasks and input inventory transactions into various IT/Logistics Information Systems. This is an entry level position.
Material Handler duties involve manually loading or unloading shipments, packing and unpacking material, properly storing assets, rotating stock, inspecting asset conditions, and performing asset accountability. Manually loading or unloading freight cars, trucks, or other transporting devices; unpacking, shelving, or placing items in proper storage locations; or transporting goods. Unpacking shelving or prepares finished products for shipment or storage by placing them in shipping containers, the specific operations performed being dependent upon the type, size, and number of units to be packed, the type of container employed, and method of shipment. Work requires the placing of items in shipping containers and may involve knowledge of various items of stock in order to verify content, selection of appropriate type and size of container, inserting enclosures in container; using excelsior or other material to prevent breakage or damage, closing and sealing container, and applying labels or entering identifying data on container.
Specific duties include:
- Accurately maintaining inventory and transaction records with USMC and DOD systems
- Packing, sealing, and labeling containers to prepare materials for transportation and storage
- Assigning and delivering items to and from various storage locations
- Storing, stacking, and palletizing materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods
- Performing cyclical and annual inventory validations
- Utilizing handheld optical character recognition scanners and similar devices and input inventory transactions
- Performing warehouse maintenance tasks such as cleaning, clearing aisles, and other similar duties
This position is designated as Mission Essential and may require overtime and or modified work schedules.

Must possess a valid state driver's license and with a good driving record.- Must be able to obtain a DoD License for operated equipment, note: opportunity to gain a DoD License will be provided after hire.
- Must be able to obtain a forklift certification.
- Working knowledge of shipping and receiving warehouse operations
- An understanding of the needs of the organization serviced
- Working knowledge of the governing supply systems, programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manuals, or other established guidelines (to include the Marine Corps databases of GSCC and DPAS).

Physical Requirements
Medium- Exerts up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Frequent kneeling, crouching, stooping, and walking are required. Work requires light to moderate physical effort in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls while driving, raising, lowering, and tilting forklift trucks.
Work Environment
Must be capable of working in an outside environment, exposed to heat, dust, inclement weather, primarily standing on hard surfaces for 8 hours in a workday. Needs to be able to work well with co-workers and all levels of management. No hazards on job or unusual environmental conditions. Maintains a clean work area and works in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
Equipment and Machines
Ability to operate office equipment such as a personal computer, printer, copy machine, telephone, fax machine, and other equipment including desk supplies and other work-related tools as required. May operate transportation equipment to include man-lifts, forklifts, electric carts, pallet jacks, dollies, or other heavy equipment (or a willingness to learn).
Attendance
Normal hours are Monday - Friday between 6:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary to meet deadlines. Must exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical mission requirements. With the exception of STD/LTD/ FMLA & approved time off, attendance is considered essential.

- Must be able to move in and around confined spaces and uneven areas.
- Must have full range of motion.
- Must be able to adequately hear and respond to voice commands and alerts from other employees, alarms, and other job-related noises.
- Must possess enough strength and stamina to perform all duties, requirements, and functions as identified above.
- Must successfully complete all applicable Federal and State mandated physical assessments.
- Must successfully complete pre-employment and ongoing drug-testing.
