About the Position

The Illinois General Assembly has recently improved the Economic Development for a Growing Economy (EDGE) tax credit program to assist with the growth, retention, and attraction of Start-Up companies called EDGE for Start-Ups. This exciting new program will ensure that Start-Ups can fully leverage the EDGE tax credit program by offering payroll tax credits to eligible businesses. Job Responsibilities

1. Serves as marketing industry specialist for the Business/Start-Up based businesses.

2. Consults with industry specialists located statewide to seek input to promote the expansion and retention of industries/business related to Business/Start-Up.

3. Assists the Economic Development for a Growing Economy (EDGE) Manager with implementing and leveraging the EDGE for Start-Ups portion of the EDGE program.

4. Establish and maintains working relationships with other State agencies, Federal agencies, local agencies, community groups, local officials to facilitate a rapport to effectuate and develop marketing projects that develop after meeting with industry representatives.

5. Advises lower-level representatives to provide expertise and direction with industry marketing projects.

6. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in business or public administration, or marketing.

2. Requires prior experience equivalent to three years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization with an emphasis on marketing and marketing development.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Prefer at least one year of experience advising and working with Start-Up business on financial, workforce development or business development areas.

2. Prefer at least two years' experience managing or leading economic development programs, tax incentives, or technical assistance (State or Local).

3. Prefer at least two years' experience in a public facing role that includes presenting and/or promoting.

4. Prefer at least two years' experience working with financial documents including financial statements related to business operations.

5. Prefer at least two years' experience working with business communities to ensure compliance with program requirements.

6. Prefer at least two years' experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.

7. Prefer at least two years' experience collecting and analyzing data, developing recommendations, and presenting recommendations to executive staff.

Conditions of Employment

1. Requires the ability to pass a background check.

2. Requires possession of a valid driver's license.

3. Requires the ability to travel with some overnight stays.
