Landmark Vineyards is a historic legacy brand in Sonoma and hospitality operates 2 tasting rooms and an inn across Sonoma Valley.

Lewis Cellars is an icon in Napa Valley and hospitality will be transformed as part of a multi-year expansion project there.

Together these Wineries and Tasting Rooms are among the best in the region, setting the standard for luxury wine customers and offering high-end consumer experiences. We are looking for a competent leader, who is determined to build off our recent successes as they drive us towards further growth, expansion and recognition.

This role supports the Hospitality Division, comprised of 14 departments and 9 businesses, across 3 brands.


Job Description
  • Maintain active boutique/merchandise displays in accordance with brand standards (this includes on the floor work and direct interfacing with customers)
  • Design, source and secure branding approval for new merchandise offerings
  • Track Sales and provide insights to departmental leadership
  • Support packaged food growth (chocolates, Farm Products, and partner-manufactured goods) by designing and implementing sales plans in all outlets and locally
  • Design sales promotions, collateral, menus, and catalogues with support from corporate marketing as needed

NOTE: Flexibility to work hands on (including physical labor – such as warehouse work or lifting/carrying wine for stretches of time) is required. Travel of up to 15% is possible (mainly in California). Work during weekends is expected and routine, including Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains Forbes 5-star, AAA- Five Diamond, Michelin and other luxury service standards
  • Identifies the need for, recommends and supervises implementation of new merchandise
  • Maintains stock levels, ensuring all departments never run out of products (especially brand standard ones)
  • Design and seek approval for new merchandise displays, so they can be implemented in locations
  • Support Ecommerce Merchandise sales, as well as marketing and brand with merchandise needs
  • Monitor buying trends and deign recommendations to enhance overall sales
  • Work with Procurement to source vendors for all products, working to combat inflation and or leverage buying power to ensure we can maintain margins
  • Support Landmark and Lewis (in 2024) with merchandise centralization and retail displays – as needed
  • Build a world-class retail catalog that can be offered for online or on-property use.
  • Help expand online retail sales or drive the project that will allow for future mail-order capability
  • Spearhead all personalization of product offerings, including etching of bottles, logo-ing, and embroidery.
  • Support with Uniform sourcing, and issuing
  • Provide high levels of customer service by engaging buyers during the busy days and helping to answer questions, sell products
  • Help organize storage warehouses with the lead of the Warehouse Managers
  • Maintain pricing matrixes and ensure all POS terminals are up to date
  • Help staff and lead events. During public events creating merchandise displays or pop-up areas are key
  • Turns research findings into insights that leads to compelling stories and strategies
  • Put together dynamic presentations, engaging resources or detailed plans, SOPs or reports
  • Has great ability to listen, read a room, work with varying or challenged personalities, and think in the moment;
  • Support the Procurement processes, including negotiating with vendors, leveraging partnerships and building strong relationships with contractors, suppliers and clients
  • Build out the retail team or help in staffing up new locations. This may mean managing staff or contactors. If so, be responsible for completing annual performance review process for direct reports (if/when needed)
  • Function as a Manager on Duty in other departments as needed, or when other managers are absent
  • Support other hospitality business at team-wide company functions, event days, and trainings

Pay Range: $26- $30/hour. Discretionary bonus percentage may vary depending on role and Business Unit. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.

  • Has deep understanding of Luxury Products, Hospitality and Service Standards (Forbes/Michelin)

  • Design focused, able to create artistry through presentation, displays catalogues or flyers. Able to communicate ideas to marketing and advertising as needed
  • Patience and versatility, ability to work with long lead times, planning out seasonal changes, working with long advertising timelines or delays, able to forecast and battle supplier delays or issues with product fulfillment
  • Process driven - notices the small things and sees service gaps. Works on solutions that eliminate them to drive efficiency or ensure guests have a positive JUSTIN experience.
  • Problem solving—identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes information skillfully and collaboratively.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • 2+ Years’ experience supervising in a service-based or retail business
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, or similar relevant field is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of retail concepts (such as FIFO, just in time, profit margin, markups, buying power, trends)
  • Knowledge of relevant software/systems: Such as Smartsheets, POS or PMS
  • Full fluency with PowerPoint and Office Suite programs. Adobe, illustrator or other media toolkits and/or advertising/design platforms are highly desirable
  • Ability to create interactive or highly graphic presentations preferred.
  • Experience working in Hospitality, a real plus
  • Demonstrated a strong ability to work well under pressure
  • Strong sense of urgency in matters related to revenue and building the business.
  • COVID vaccination will be required for this position unless candidate has a legally valid exemption
