UW Medicine Faculty Practice Plan Services (FPPS) supports UW Physicians (UWP), a practice group for more than 3,000 physicians and other healthcare professionals associated with UW Medicine. UW Medicine includes Harborview Medical Center, UW Medical Center - Montlake, UW Primary Care, UW Medical Center - Northwest, the UW School of Medicine, Valley Medical Center, and Airlift Northwest. UWP members also practice at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, a partnership of UW Medicine, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and Seattle Children’s Hospital.

FPPS is in search of a Human Resources Manager. The Human Resources Manager supports the day-to-day human resources operations of UW Medicine – Faculty Practice Plan Services (FPPS), including acting as the primary HR resource, employee engagement lead, and facilitating recruitment activities.

Primarily remote workforce, requiring additional focus and effort on engagement and retention of staff. Recruitment of key support roles is ongoing due to natural attrition in some roles, requiring constant vigilance, coordination with multiple stakeholders, and tracking to budget.

  • This position will work a hybrid office schedule – mostly remote with an average of 1 day per week in the office


  • WHAT YOU BRING:
  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable HR work experience that includes 3+ years in HR support role.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated success at driving operational efficiency and improved employee satisfaction.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship management skills with the proven ability to work in a matrixed environment across functional areas.
  • Ability to problem solve through analysis and ongoing feedback.
  • Experience coaching, developing, and retaining employees and providing a collaborative and positive work environment.
  • Collaborative team member, able to work with all levels of staff and develop cross-functional relationships.
  • Advanced PC skills and proficiency in MS Office.
  • Experience working in a customer service focused organization.
  • At least 3 years of proven experience working in cross-functional teams and across all levels of management.
  • Ability to problem solve while maintaining positive relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Must be able to work under pressure, managing multiple deadlines, in a fast-paced environment.

    DESIRED SKILLS:
  • Experience supporting staff in the healthcare industry and a predominantly remote workforce

    WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
  • Responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level, working closely with senior management in supporting all FPPS employees.
  • Leadership of UW Medicine and FPPS employee engagement and retention strategies for the FPPS workforce.
  • Partner with Recruiting to track and and manage retention, recruitments, and promotions.
  • Supervise assigned staff
  • Train and coach staff to execute on established expectations to include completing work assignments, reaching goals and completing projects within established time frames.
  • Supports and maintains the guidelines within the SEIU 925 Union contract.
