We are looking for a talented Maintenance Utility Person to join the Rio Tinto team at our open pit Boron mine and processing facilities.

Reporting to the Supervisor and working in a collaborative community and diverse team, you will be:

  • Coordinating Maintenance Utility persons’ function with overall Plant operations.
  • Performing masonry work, both patching and construction along with cement work; pours, spreads, tamps, and finishes concrete.
  • Mixing various types of mortar and grout for patching and machine foundations.
  • Plasters and repairs plastering.
  • Using oxy-acetylene torch to cut reinforcing steel bars in conjunction with cement or brick work.
  • Performing Journey person-level rough and finish carpentry work to construct or repair cabinetry, wooden buildings, sheds, roofs, skylights, furniture, and equipment, etc.
  • Prepares project estimates on time, materials, and costs.
  • Reads, understands, and utilizes information contained in blueprints and sketches.
  • Operates wood-working machinery and maintains tools in proper working condition.

What you’ll bring

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Four years general experience in concrete, framing, cabinetry, sign making, and masonry is preferred.
  • Must be skilled in carpentry, concrete, and masonry work, insulating, and painting.
  • Must be able to read blueprints and drawings and provide estimates for construction projects.
  • Will continue to develop knowledge and skills through training to become proficient in computerized fabrication and design of signs.
  • Woodworking, concrete, and masonry tools; paint spray gun and other painting and varnishing tools, hand tools, and other equipment as required by job duties.
  • Current and valid state civil driver’s license
