Job description

The Maintenance Technician will oversee the performance and maintenance of production machinery. Primary responsibilities include overseeing operations and ensuring successful downtime results of machines by troubleshooting, repair, and improvement of manufacturing equipment.

Responsibilities:

· Performs preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines.

· Ensures all production machines are running at maximum efficiency.

· Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines.

· Maintains factory and utility equipment and repairs general facility problems.

· Interacts with maintenance manager, team leader, and Plant Manager to obtain daily work assignments.

· Requests tools and spare parts to ensure they are readily available.

· Assists Engineering team with projects as needed.

· Train production team leaders on specific tasks such as Preventive Maintenance, and machine repairs.

· Continually gain knowledge of electrical and or mechanical concepts.

· Obtains quotes for items and places order requests for parts.

· Care for machinery and equipment by cleaning them after use, adjusting parts and lubricating moving components as needed to ensure proper, efficient function.

· Examine moving parts on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis for signs of excessive wear, defects, and damage.

· Record all maintenance and repair services performed and keep track of all materials and parts used during the repair process.

· Study manufacturer manuals and blueprints and carefully follow directions when operating or setting up newly acquired machinery.

· Cut and weld metal pieces together as needed to fabricate new parts, assemble equipment, or repair broken parts as needed.

· Respond to line down calls as priority dictates.

· Help in maintaining inventory for department to perform accurate repairs.

· Maintain good safe working practices.

· Organize and maintain work areas for a good 5S.

· Perform all duties necessary in creating an efficient, effective and affordable maintenance department.

Skills:

· Basic PC skills.

· Must have solid mechanical background, with welding ability preferred.

· Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatic, and industrial electrical systems (Must be able to communicate this knowledge during the interview process).

· Must be able to read blueprints, electrical and hydraulic schematics.

· Must be flexible for possible coverage on any shift or work schedule.

· Must practice safe work habits in accordance with federal/state laws and company policy.

General Requirements:

· Must demonstrate proper use of the equipment, for example, screwdriver, box cutter, tape measure, etc.

· Must be able to lift 50lbs+; on a repetitive basis and have the ability to stand, walk, reach, bend, stoop on a frequent basis.

· Must be able to consent to a pre-employment background check.

· Must be able to consent to a drug screen.

· Ability to follow workplace safety policies and guidelines.
