We are looking for a 3rd shift Maintenance Technician to join our team! We offer a competitive wage plus a $1.50/hr shift differential.

JOB SUMMARY

Ensures that all equipment is operating effectively and efficiently, must have excellent proficiency in PM's. Must have the ability to read electrical prints. Excellent trouble shooting and problem-solving skills. Perform general and preventive maintenance work including mechanical, 1 & 3 phase electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, plumbing, and fabrication.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Ensures safe operations through adherence to Environmental, Health, and Safety programs and procedures.

2. Strict adherence to housekeeping, clean work areas upon completing a project and plant GMPs.

3. Provide maintenance support to all stations effectively and efficiently.

4. Ensures operation of plant equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements.

5. Perform predictive maintenance on mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic, and electrical systems.

6. Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments. Remove defective parts by dismantling equipment; using hand and power tools, and cranes and hoists when necessary.

7. Function as an engaged team member and contribute to the site's continuous improvement efforts.

8. Able to effectively and safely operate standard maintenance tools such as power tools, basic hand tools, and basic electrical test meters.

9. Perform pneumatic, hydraulic system troubleshooting, and repairs.

10. Effectively pass-down to next shift personnel, unfinished repairs and unresolved maintenance/production issues.

11. Communicate with the production supervisor and plant manager on product runs, equipment problems, packaging issues, and potential down time.

12. Maintain positive working relationships with supervisor and co-workers.

13. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the overall maintenance and repairs of production equipment, and facilities.

a) Keeps the immediate supervisor informed of relevant activities on shift and takes or recommends corrective action when required.

b) Demonstrates a positive attitude and relates in a positive manner when interacting with all personnel.

c) Keep detailed and accurate equipment records.

d) Required to have the flexibility to move between all shifts to conduct the necessary training and cover for vacancies as needed.

e) Address safety and quality concerns in a timely manner.

f) Maintain awareness of customer and regulatory demands and focus.

g) Responsible to adhere to quality system requirements.

h) Maintain all equipment in the facility to manufacturer’s specification.

i) Follows through on the plant’s preventative maintenance program.

j) Repairs down or damaged equipment.

k) Performs testing and diagnostic duties as required.

l) Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

Understand and follow written and oral instructions in the English language.

  • Knowledge of Occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions applicable to mechanical maintenance and repair work, including lockout procedures and confined space entry procedures.
  • Ability to work with little to no supervision.
  • Must have proven working knowledge of electrical/mechanical skills and have operational knowledge of basic tools and equipment. PLC experience a plus.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior maintenance experience in the dairy or cheese industry is preferred

a) 1- 2 years of skilled experience in mechanical maintenance and repair work. Other combinations of experience, with prior experience in a food manufacturing environment, a plus.

b) Knowledge of HACCP, GMP's, OSHA and loss control programs is highly desirable.

2. Prefer prior experience or education related to mechanical systems, instrumentation, and industrial automation.

3. Mechanical aptitude including:

a) Ability to perform typical maintenance activities related to troubleshooting and repair of equipment.

b) Welding of mild and stainless metal including sanitary piping.

c) Electricity, able to perform basic trouble shooting using test instrumentation.

d) Operate, maintain and perform chemical testing of the boilers, refrigeration, and wastewater systems.

e) Ability to troubleshoot and operate pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

f) Ability to identify problems and recommend or follow through on appropriate solutions.
