Position Description
Maintenance Repair Workers perform semi-skilled work in the building and mechanical trades to repair, construct, and/or maintain buildings, facilities and equipment.
Under general supervision, incumbent will perform basic plumbing work in order to maintain, repair and modify plumbing systems and fixtures, install and repair valves and fixtures, and open clogged drains. The incumbent will perform basic carpentry work to maintain, repair and modify facilities and fixtures; install and repair locks; make keys; and install venetian blinds, etc. Incumbent may construct special-use features or objects and execute basic and interior painting work such as taping, texturing and patching sheetrock and masonry surfaces, setting up ladders and scaffolding, etc. The successful candidate shall have basic electrical skills, including installing new parts in defective equipment, replacing ballasts on 120-, 277-, and 480-volt fixtures, and changing light bulbs, light fixtures, switches, and outlets. The position is responsible for the grounds maintenance and will assist the grounds position under their assigned jurisdiction. He will perform basic preventive maintenance in all of the trades and will assist the HVAC mechanic, maintenance repair specialist, custodial workers, grounds maintenance workers, and those in other trades. The incumbent shall perform maintenance and preventive maintenance on industrial and commercial facilities and know and adhere to all safety rules, regulations, and codes.
- This position is required to have and maintain a driver's license.
**Must be able to obtain an OSHA 30 within one year of employment.

Minimum Qualifications
One year of experience performing semi-skilled work in the building and/or mechanical trades; OR one year of experience as a Maintenance Repair Worker I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
