The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
The incumbent is responsible for: handling visitors and inquiries that come to the mailroom; receiving, sorting and distributing all incoming mail, faxes and packages; receiving, sorting and arranging for all outgoing mail and packages; and maintaining office supplies inventory. In these duties the incumbent must represent the Medical Center in a competent and professional manner.
Responsibilities
Responsible for incoming and outgoing mail, including the coordination of mail services with the NYPS and P&S central mail room. Maintains and routes outgoing mail, including bulk mail such as bulletins and other publications. Arranges for messenger service pick-up. Manages the mailroom area to ensure standards of professionalism are maintained. Provides a customer friendly environment which includes greeting, acknowledging and/or assisting every visitor. Verifies and maintains tracking system of incoming and outgoing shipments/packages. Receives, sorts, and prepares items for shipment. Processes UPS, Federal Express and carrier packages for internal customers. Notifies individuals when packages and/or express mailings have been received for them. Responsible for inventory management system which keeps track of levels of inventory in stock for replenishing purposes. Assist Manager by notifying Housing facilities of maintenance problems and inquiries and making building-wide deliveries, as needed. Assist with other duties as assigned, which include but are not limited to providing back-up support in all Housing related front desk functions.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 2 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to work in an organized, efficient manner with a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and follow-through. well developed interpersonal and communication skills. A strong customer service attitude with the ability to deal with constant interaction both in person and on the telephone is required. Professional appearance and manner. Computer literacy, to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Working knowledge of mail processes such as postage machine, Federal Express and UPS. Ability to work independently and take initiative on assigned projects as well as accept direction on given assessments. Ability to supervise student workers. Ability to lift approximately 15-20 lbs.
