JOB SUMMARY

This position oversees the inspection, operation, maintenance and repair of the wastewater lift stations by coordinating technical, administrative and front line supervisory work as required; and performs other duties as assigned. The incumbent works within a general outline of work to be performed, and executes established work methods and sequences under general supervision.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Provides input to work plans and coordinates all operational checks, preventive maintenance and repair work at the lift stations in coordination with the Superintendent
• Directs subordinate crew members to include: training, scheduling, instructing, planning and assigning work, reviewing work, maintaining standards, coordinating activities, allocating personnel, acting on employee problems, and recommending employee discipline;
• Coordinates equipment shutdowns and participates in the inspection, troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment;
• Ensures the timely resolution of equipment problems to minimize interruptions of service;
• Supervises general building and grounds maintenance work;
• Inspects all work in progress and at completion for compliance with applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and standards of quality and safety;
• Ensures the proper maintenance of assigned vehicles and equipment;
• Closes out work orders in CMMS after ensuring work is completed properly;
• Participates in the Stations on-call schedule to provide 24/7 emergency response for station issues;
• Is considered essential staff during emergencies and may be required to work long hours at times or be at work for several days at a time in rare instances;
• Performs general clerical work as required, including but not limited to completing forms and reports, attending and conducting meetings, entering and retrieving computer data, copying and filing documents, answering the telephone, etc.;
• Attends meetings, as appropriate, and training to enhance job knowledge and skills; and
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

• High school diploma or GED;
• Four (4) years of relevant prior experience;
• Must obtain DOT Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) medical examiner’s certificate within fourteen (14) days from the date of hire;
• Valid Driver’s License;
• Must possess or be able to obtain a Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License (with tanker endorsement), within nine (9) months from the date of hire or promotion;
• Must satisfy all of the Metro Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship Program benchmarks (coursework and certifications) within two (2) years of position start date.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work is considered heavy in nature and involves exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to $20.00 per hour
