Job description
Collaborate with attorneys on medical malpractice, nursing, or other healthcare-related cases by organizing and analyzing medical records, offering professional opinion, and preparing reports.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist legal team's in determining the potential of a case.
- Identify the elements of negligence or deviations from standard care in malpractice cases.
- Consult on personal injury cases when needed.
- Educate attorneys on all facets of nursing and health care delivery, standard of practice, and diagnostic test results.
- Organize, analyze, and prepare summarizations of medical records received from client's providers.
- Prepare chronology or timeline of care as documented in medical records.
- Interview and obtain needed medical care information from clients. Make determinations on whether appropriate level of care was received.
- Conduct additional medical research when needed.
- Identify potential parties in the case.
- Attend client medical examinations if required.
- Educate on healthcare practice issues related to legal and ethical concerns.
- Be an advocate for safe and ethical nursing and healthcare practices.
- Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- RN Degree with valid nursing license.
- Minimum of ten years field experience, critical care preferred, BSN required.
- 2+ years legal consulting experience preferred.
- Expert in medical terminology and medical records review.
- Knowledgeable in both legal and medical industries and able to eloquently bridge the gap between the two.
- Possess a dedicated and persistent character with a willingness to spend time and energy on a variety of cases.
- Acute attention to detail, possessing strong research skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse group of individuals.
- Maintains professionalism and confidentiality when dealing with sensitive issues.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Possess good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
- Demonstrate commitment to excellence and high standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and able to adapt quickly to new software and technology.
