A lawn care specialist helps their clients maintain their outdoor spaces. They spend their time mowing the lawn, trimming hedges, bushes, and trees, as well as maintaining gardens and flowerbeds. An employee in this position may work for both residential and commercial clients.

To excel in this position, a lawn care specialist needs to be capable of using a wide variety of lawn care tools, products, and techniques. For example, they will need to be familiar with fertilizers, pesticides, and when to use specific types of each of them. Lawn care specialists also need to be able to operate a mower, weed whacker, shears, and related tools.

Employers who hire for this position don’t usually require advanced education of their applicants, but they do prefer to hire individuals who have demonstrated their ability to complete the tasks of a lawn care specialist in a previous job.
