Job Summary
Laborer position for asphalt road construction crews in Venango, Clarion, Forest, Warren, McKean, and Jefferson counties. This position requires a CDL Class A license to drive DOT regulated trucks and trailers. This is a union position.
Main Responsibilities
- Perform all work in a safe manner
- Follow company safety policies and procedures
- Shovel asphalt and other materials
- Luting / raking asphalt and aggregates
- Set-up and take down temporary work zones
- Control traffic in and around work zones (flagging)
- Assist in backing and dumping of triaxles and milling machines
- Handling of hot liquid asphalt and other materials
- Remove old asphalt, concrete and other materials using a jackhammer or quickie saw
- Erect and remove delineating devices such as barrels and cones
- Seal end joints
- Help fill water tanks on equipment as needed
- Compact material with small hand rollers and vibratory plates
- Operate DOT regulated vehicles
Education
- High School Diploma or GED
- CDL Class A License
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work long shifts - up to 7 days a week when necessary
- Must be able to work night shifts when applicable
- Must be able to withstand long periods of standing / walking / moving without sitting
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
- Must be able to withstand working in seasonal climates
- Must be able to withstand frequent bending, twisting, scooping
- Must be able to climb as necessary
