City of Deming Job Vacancy Announcement
Laborer I, Range 6, $13.00/hr.
Open until 4:00pm May 26, 2023
The City of Deming is seeking qualified applicants for regular, full time Laborer I, located in the
Streets department. Position requires a valid State of New Mexico driver's license and good driving
record; previous department-related work experience is preferred.
Laborers in the City of Deming perform routine, unskilled manual labor in support of the Community
Service and Public Works Department. Employees in this class perform work of a manual nature that
does not require a high degree of manipulative skill or previous experience in order to do an effective job.
Work is usually closely supervised, but many types of work assignments may be routine and repetitive in
nature and once learned can be performed under only general supervision.
Individuals offered employment will be required to pass a pre-employment physical, drug test and
background check.
Applicant shall possess:
- Valid State of NM Drivers License and good driving record.
- HS Diploma or GED
- Knowledge of the care and use of standard hand tools used in the construction and maintenance of
- Ability to read, understand and follow specific written and oral instructions.
- Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, often under unfavorable weather conditions.
- Ability to get along well with co-workers.
- Good physical condition and health; sufficient physical strength and ability to permit the lifting and
- Skill in the use of hand tools essential to the work performed.
- Some experience in performing heavy manual work (desired).
