The Laboratory Technician will conduct routine in vitro laboratory testing services for pre clinical and in process studies for the Edwards Quality Lab.This role is onsite, based out of the Irvine Corporate Campus. Shift is M-F daytime with occasional weekend rotation among the team. Overtime required during peak volume periods or critical deadlines .
Key Responsibilities:
Perform a variety of routine laboratory test and assist in laboratory tasks as required under close supervision of Laboratory Supervisor and Study Directors
Perform in vivo biological assays using small animals, including administration, health monitoring and sample collection per ISO 10993.
Lab functions including collect, analyze, and process laboratory samples. Prepare chemicals, reagents and solutions.
Calibrate and operate standard laboratory equipment that are maintained in electronic system.
Record results, organize data, and perform basic computations.
Initiate and support laboratory investigations.
Assist in validation activities for equipment and test methods under close supervision
Review, follow and perform job functions in compliance with established work instructions and adherence with SOPs, including recording traceable information on device history records
Other incidental duties as assigned
Other Factors / Environmental Tolerances:
Role requires working with animal blood and/or tissues.
100% of time spent in a laboratory environment (frequent standing, movement around lab space)
Flexibility in working hours - overtime (late afternoons) and occasional weekend rotation as required.
Required Education and Experience:
Associate's Degree in science field (Biology, Veterinary Science or Animal Science preferred) required
1+ year of hands-on experience with animals (IV / IP injections; sample collections etc) required
Experience as a veterinary technician in biomedical research or private practice preferred
RVT (Registered Veterinary Technician) and /or LAT (Laboratory Animal Technician) certifications preferred
Preferred Skills and Experience
Experience with in vivo laboratory test methods preferred
Experience in a GLP / GDP lab environment supporting Medical Devices a big plus (not required)
Basic knowledge of AALAS (American Association for Laboratory Animal Science), USDA, DEA regulations
Demonstrates professional communication, interpersonal, and relationship building skills
Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word)
Able to read, comprehend, write and speak English
Thrives in a collaborative team environment with close supervision
Able to Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control

For California, the base pay range for this position is $41,000 to $58,000 (highly experienced).
