CDL Utilities is a leading provider of telecommunication services to include underground, internal, and aerial installation of coax and fiber optic cabling. CDL Utilities also performs excavation and underground installation and maintenance services for utility service providers furnishing, electric, gas, and water systems. Overview:

CDL Utilities has an immediate need for a skilled and reliable Internal Construction Worker. We are looking for a hard-working individual capable of working extended hours and occasionally on weekends for emergencies or special situations. The work is predominantly indoors, although the candidate must be prepared to also work outdoors in different types of weather conditions. We primarily work with local commercial clients on Long Island, but some travel may be necessary. Our ideal candidate has experience installing telephone, cable tv, fiber optic cabling, and/or electrical wiring internally within residential homes and commercial businesses. The ideal candidate should also be familiar with cable/wire installations at differing points of the construction process (e.g., pre- and post-sheetrock). However, we are willing to train the right individual.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and install fiber optic cabling in ISP and OSP environments
• Interpret technical drawings/maps and complete daily production reports
• Operate hand tools (e.g., drills, wall fish equipment, etc.)
• Ensure equipment and tools are cleaned and stored properly
• Maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations, procedures, and policies

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
• Must be able to pass drug, criminal, and background checks
• Must have at least 6 months of related construction experience
• Ability to communicate effectively with crew leaders, customers, employees, etc.
• Ability to work independently or as an active member of a team

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience in the utility construction industry or related construction fields
• Comfortability working in tight spaces (e.g., attics, crawl spaces) and with heights
• Prior experience preparing and installing telecommunication cabling internally
• Ability to read prints and interpret utility maps
• Ability to speak and/or read both English and Spanish
• OSHA10 or OSHA30 Certification

Physical Requirements:

• Position is very active and will require the employee to stand, crouch, sit, bend, etc.
• Ability to work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses, and hardhat
• Ability to work in adverse weather and driving conditions
• Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs as needed with or without assistance
