Introduction

This position will serve as a training facilitator in nursing education / healthcare education for the Southeast Missouri Region. Additionally, the trainer will travel to each county within Southeast Missouri to promote our healthcare education programs (recruitment).

Description:

  • Trainers can expect to split time between working from home, occasionally meeting on-site (monthly) at the College of Nursing and Health Sciences (Cape), and traveling to healthcare facilities within the listed counties (several days per month).
  • Expected travel to all counties but travel will be arranged as needed and the trainer will know of travel dates in advance. Counties traveled to can include:

Bollinger, Butler, Cape Girardeau, Carter, Crawford, Dent, Douglas, Dunklin, Howell, Iron, Madison, Mississippi, New Madrid, Oregon, Ozark, Pemiscot, Perry, Phelps, Reynolds, Ripley, Scott, Shannon, Ste. Genevieve, St. Francois, Stoddard, Texas, Washington, Wayne, and Wright

  • This position is grant-funded, full-time, temporary position with potential to become a full-time permanent position in nursing education. The positions will report to the Training Supervisor and will report on all activities to the Principle Investigator and coinvestigators (grant reporting personnel).
  • The trainer will be provided with a laptop, appropriate software, and presentation equipment. The trainer will be expected to provide their own travel within the designated counties (reimbursed mileage). The applicant must be a self-starter, self-motivated and complete work as expected without constant direct supervision. Applicant's ability to complete responsibilities and meet deadlines is necessary. Skills: exceptional presentation, communication, networking abilities.

Essential Functions:

  • Interview healthcare staff to determine training needs and instructional delivery methods
  • Identify and interview regional or countywide trainers for local healthcare industries, including but not limited to healthcare clinics, urgent care clinics, hospitals, long-term care facilities/nursing homes, and behavioral health centers
  • Forward recommendations of other course training specialists for hire to the training supervisor
  • Schedule and organize training for Missouri Delta healthcare providers
  • Administer the process for delivering completion certificates
  • Assist in designing training curriculum, including on-site or asynchronous training and teach courses as appropriate
  • Coordinate all employer/employee events
  • Ensure materials are accurate and available for career-pathways for industries
  • Measure the efficacy of all outreach (assess outcomes) of all activities for grant reporting
  • Coordinate appropriate learning equipment (e.g., computers, projectors) for onsite events
  • Submit required reports for training activities and training costs
  • Any other duties as needed to achieve the vision and mission of the organization

Qualification

  • Passion for healthcare education and inspiring others to join the healthcare field
  • Skills: exceptional presentation, communication, networking abilities.
  • Associate’s degree or higher in healthcare

Preferred:

  • RN license (Unencumbered)
  • 1+ year of direct healthcare experience
  • 1+ year trainer or educator experience
  • Experience with the following courses: food service programs, EMT, phlebotomy, UAP, PCT, CNA courses, etc.
  • Instructional design; familiarity with course quality metrics
  • Experience developing new courses for certification, especially healthcare-related
  • Experience with a Learning Management System for synchronous/asynchronous delivery
  • Prior experience with Office 365; live documentation; working in a remote setting
