INFRASTRUCTURE ARCHITECT

Infrastructure Architect collaborates with both end-users and internal engineers. Responsibilities may include testing new software, writing technical documents, and training end-users. The Infrastructure Architect role requires advanced troubleshooting skills, in-depth knowledge of the aforementioned technologies, and the ability to work well under pressure. The Infrastructure Architect role is a full-time, salaried, exempt position, reporting directly to the Program Manager III, IT4OT.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

· Install and configure server and client operating systems, as well as server or PC hardware, ensuring proper functionality and compatibility

· Perform project-oriented tasks, such as creating labels and documentation, to support team initiatives and goals

· Troubleshoot OS issues and work with vendors to identify and implement effective solutions to hardware and software issues

· Write technical documentation and procedures to document the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting process and ensure that this process can be easily repeated

· Train internal staff and end-users on new hardware and software, including Microsoft Operating Systems, Linux, VMware vSphere environments, programming, and an understanding of IP networking

· Provide detailed explanations about the technologies utilized and how they support the company's goals and objectives, as well as answering any questions or concerns from internal staff and end-users

Education, Certifications and Experience

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and/or Engineering preferred

· VMware Certified Professional (VMware VCP) certification a plus

· 2-3 years’ experience working with Microsoft Windows, Linux, and VMware vSphere

· Experience with ESXCLI and PowerShell a plus

· Basic programming knowledge and code understanding, including an understanding of scripting languages and programming best practices.

· Strong professional communication skills, with the ability to decipher project requirements and effectively communicate with team members, stakeholders, and end-users

· Strong conceptual thinking and problem-solving skills to ensure all parts of an application function together and as intended, and to address issues that arise during design and testing.

· Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members effectively, work well under pressure, and manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously

· Strategic thinking to develop solutions and new functionality for upgrades and enhancements, as well as to identify and implement process improvements.

· Ability to manage own time and tasks effectively, prioritize tasks, and work independently with minimal supervision

Working Environment

Duties are performed in an office environment, but may require travel to customer sites/locations to perform analysis, installation, training maintenance, etc. Infrastructure Architects routinely use standard office equipment which includes, but is not limited to, computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues.

Physical Demands

Must be able to sit and/or stand for prolonged hours consistent with the average workday; to operate a computer and other office equipment, including but not limited to computer, printer, etc. Must be able to move, transport, position, place, install, remove and/or replace various types of equipment.
