Summary

This position provides a hybrid of in-home and telehealth parent education, psychoeducation, skill-building, and clinical interventions to at-risk families. The Individual & Family Therapist strengthens families’ resilience to prevent child abuse and neglect by providing individualized, professional parenting education and mental health support to families experiencing behavior challenges. Therapy is provided to individuals, couples and children experiencing a wide variety of issues and challenges.


The Individual and Family Therapist cultivates a healthy workplace environment by working with cultural competence, fosters teamwork throughout the organization and program department, aids change efforts in support of Epworth’s continuous improvement of programmatic efforts, values relationships with all stakeholders (clients, staff, agency partners) and drives programming to achieve maximum impact on client outcomes.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following: (Other duties as assigned.)


  • Provides parent education, psychoeducation, skill-building, clinical interventions, and follow-ups to assigned clients in their homes, schools, and communities or via telehealth platforms. Utilizes best practice interventions and evidence-based models when available to ensure clients receive the highest quality support.


  • Provides case management and advocacy services to clients to ensure access to and full utilization of appropriate support services.


  • Participates in & coordinates with interdisciplinary treatment teams to ensure comprehensive client supportive services; working with team of service providers & community organizations to enhance client outcomes.


  • Develops/establishes professional, supportive helping relationships with clients to engage them in meeting their goals.


  • Maintains accurate and current records for all assigned clients in compliance with agency and funder requirements.


  • Participates in individual supervision sessions as designed by his/her supervisor to ensure compliance with procedures, support achievement of developmental goals, and support excellent service delivery to clients.


  • Participates in monthly clinical staffing and on agency committees as determined with supervisor.


  • Attends seminars/workshops when appropriate to enhance knowledge, maintain best practice awareness, and cultivate skills required to meet the diverse needs of clients served within the FSN program.


  • Reports child abuse and neglect incidents immediately, when there is imminent risk. Consults with supervisor regarding other high-risk situations and intervenes accordingly.


  • Adheres to policies and procedures inclusive of, but not limited to, attendance, program/department specific procedures, workplace safety, code of conduct, training requirements, social media, and confidentiality.


Education and/or Experience:


  • Must have a Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or psychology and must have a LCSW, LPC or LMFT; or


  • Must have a Master’s in Counseling and be provisionally licensed LPC (PLPC). Must obtain LPC within 2 years of hire and supervision must begin within 4 months of hire; or


  • Must have a Master’s in Social Work and have LMSW. Must obtain LCSW within 2 years of hire and supervision must begin within 4 months of hire.


Must have a broad theoretical knowledge of individual, group and family therapy, and ability to implement a wide range of treatment modalities.


Knowledge of community organizations and resources preferred. Experience with home or community-based services preferred. Knowledge of child mental health and trauma preferred.


Language Skills:
Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, public groups and/or clients.


Reasoning Ability: Ability
to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Demonstrates high levels of responsibility and decision-making ability as it relates to clinical judgment and adherence to agency policies/ procedures.


Computer Skills: E-mail

Physical Demands: While
performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively. The physical requirement of this job includes sitting, standing, walking, and climbing stairs on a regular basis, lifting up to 25lbs, pulling and/or pushing on occasion.


Work Environment: All
individual/family therapy sessions will be provided in the clients’ homes and/or communities or via telehealth platforms as designated by Epworth. At least three evenings per week is required to work with clients’ personal schedules to provide therapy. Will need to travel into the community routinely to perform job duties.


Other: Must
possess a valid driver's license. Must have consistent personal transportation in order to provide in home therapy services. Must have auto insurance when using own vehicle to transport clients to appointments and community meetings.
