Job Summary:
The Human Resource Manager will lead and direct routine functions within the Human Resources (HR) department including Worker’s Compensation, payroll, benefits, and enforcing company policies and practices. Assists with employee relations, workplace investigations, and training. Additionally, this position maintains the employee files and the HRIS.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Provides support and feedback to Managers throughout the organization.
- Supervises the HR Generalist and Talent Acquisition Team.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable HR federal and state requirements, assisting with investigations, and maintaining records.
- Identify and recommend areas of improvement to internal standard operating procedures.
- Maintain and enhance employee benefits programs, including compensation, health insurance, vacation, STD and FMLA.
- Partner with HR staff to provide assistant with HR processes during Mergers & Acquisitions.
- Manage the HRIS and maintain employee files.
- Conduct exit interviews and climate surveys. Analyze data for trends to present to HR staff and other departments for employee retention and engagement.
- Support the VP of HR in the development and delivery of strategic HR plans to fit with the overall business direction.
- Champion the onboarding process, providing clarity and connection for all employees and their role in relation to the overall vision.
- Coordinate workers' compensation claims with third-party administrator and manage the process for claims.
- Manage payroll processes and assist employees with questions. Complete verifications of employment. Review and respond to unemployment claims with appropriate documentation.
- Responsible for creating new ideas and initiatives for employee engagement with the Employee Engagement Committee.
- Assist with training and development as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to understand statistical data and mathematical concepts and how to apply them to HR processes.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- A minimum of two years of human resource management experience required.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly desired.
- Experience working with Workday software preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
