Job Synopsis:
SWAP (Sharing With Appalachian People) provides mission/service/learning opportunities for young people and adults, mainly through the summer months. Primary focus of SWAP is housing repair low-income individuals and families who do not qualify for other low-cost housing programs, and supporting faith-sharing, communication and understanding between volunteers and local residents.
Public relations skills are crucial, as this position interacts directly with the majority of SWAP Elkhorn City volunteers and staff. This position is responsible to explore local outlets to find best food options.

Essential:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Understanding of hospitality procedures and best practices
- A desire to learn and understand poverty issues in Appalachia
- A willingness to facilitate or assist in evening sessions
- A willingness to work with volunteers of all ages and backgrounds as well as other staff
- A willingness to learn meal planning and preparation for large groups
- An ability or willingness to learn how to organize volunteers in completion of food prep/service and facility cleaning duties items
- A willingness to facilitate the marketing of SWAP promotional items
- Patience and stamina required
- A valid driver’s license required

Key Responsibilities
Specific Tasks and Duties:

Technical:
- Works in consultation with the SWAP Location Coordinators to plan balanced,
nutritional meals for volunteers while working within provided budgetary guidelines.
- Completes primary food preparation in advance of volunteer assistance.
- Coordinates meal preparation and volunteer scheduling for kitchen duties and clean-
up duties and facilitates clean-up duties.
Admin/ Coordination:
- Coordinates the sale of SWAP T-shirts, caps, mugs, etc.
- Assume responsibility of budgeting and monitoring expenses. In consultation with Appalachia Program Director.
- Ensure all records are kept properly and consistently
- Organizing and coordinating operations to ensure maximum efficiency
Relationship building/ Public Relations:
- Together with the SWAP staff team, facilitate/assist in evening sessions and worship.
- To be exemplary in conduct and communication with clients, co-workers, and
volunteers.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals.
Housekeeping:
- Clean designated areas including, but not limited to, restrooms, public areas, offices and banquet/meeting/conference rooms
- Perform tasks including, but not limited to, dusting and polishing furniture and fixtures, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, shampooing carpets, washing windows, cleaning/waxing floors, removing and disposing of trash and emptying ashtrays
- Greet guests in a friendly manner
- Report maintenance deficiencies and items in need of repair
- Stock and maintain supply rooms, as needed
- Perform deep cleaning tasks and special projects
Other duties as assigned on a temporary basis
Supervision: No direct supervision
Travel expectations: Travel in this position is required but negligible with less than 30 nights away
per year.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $34,032.96 - $37,814.40 per year
