Full-Time Math Teacher Starting August 2023

Christchurch School is a co-ed Episcopal boarding and day school serving grades 9—12. Founded in 1921, Christchurch is located on a 125-acre waterfront campus on the Rappahannock River in Virginia. Position Overview. Christchurch School seeks a full-time Math Teacher. We are looking for individuals who foster an inclusive workplace built on equitable policies and procedures, and who are also able to engage a diverse team of co-workers and students. This is an opportunity for an educator to join a department engaged in implementing a constructivist quantitative reasoning curriculum within the broader context of a school that prioritizes relationships, agency, skill competencies, and the use of place (local, national, and international) to help guide students towards becoming compassionate, engaged, and successful global citizens.

Requirements and Qualifications.

• Qualified candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in Math or a related field. Formal education training and teaching experience are desirable, as is prior coaching experience.
• Candidates should be realistic and excited about the challenges and rewards of working and living at a boarding school. This position is expected to coach/lead two out of three athletic/co-curricular seasons each year, act as an advisor to a student advisory group, and do evening and weekend duty on a rotating basis.
• Candidates should be realistic and excited about working with students who have a wide variety of learning styles and ability levels.
• The person in this position will teach a normal course load.

Physical demands:

• Ability to work at a desk and computer screen for extended periods
• Ability to be mobile around campus and buildings

Work environment:

• Fast-paced, small boarding and day school
• Some travel required
