We are seeking a Head of Procurement to join us at a very exciting time as Babylon undergoes a period of significant change. Working with the business as a Procurement “Centre of Excellence”, you will need to combine a strategic procurement methodology with ‘hands on’ implementation, identify opportunities in collaboration with stakeholders and take accountability for delivering them.
Savings delivery and contract optimisation will be a key aspect of the role, balanced with delivering the needs of internal stakeholders and overall business objectives. This role is particularly crucial to the success of Babylon’s newly created GBS business to create internal harmony when working across all suppliers and partners throughout the lifecycle from procure to pay, ultimately including an air tight exit strategy and process.
You will need to build on and embed the procurement approach that has been developed, as well as introducing further best practice, particularly in supplier relationship management and in guiding and supporting the business in its application while educating stakeholders in the benefits it brings. This is a role that will require an adept, confident and empathetic communicator to win ‘the hearts and minds’ of the business area leaders.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
- Deliver and apply best practice procurement, contract management and supplier management and create an environment where these are consistently adopted globally across business areas.
- Create strong internal relationships and enterprise-wide adoption of procurement best practice in general. Particularly around contingent workforce strategy on defining and owning all non-employee workforce policies to ensure compliance and scalability.
- Collaborating with business stakeholders, develop, lead and implement sourcing strategies and on-going vendor management & measurement for key spend areas.
- Take the lead role to manage the entire procurement lifecycles from tenders, negotiations, to contracting/vendor onboarding through vendor on-going management.
- Actively seek, recommend and report on cost saving and where necessary challenge operational requirements and supplier spend.
- Actively manage and monitor adherence to procurement process, governance and policy.
- Foster tight partnership with other GBS leaders to ensure smooth and “friction-free” procure-to-pay, vendor on-going management/measurement, and successful decommission/vendor offboarding process.
- Review procurement strategy, structure, policy and process and implement enhancements to meet the longer-term requirements of the organisation.
- Partner with Legal & Compliance in identifying additional contracting efficiencies and risk mitigation.
- Strive for continuous improvement in the service provided to the Business and generate ideas and initiatives to stimulate an ongoing pipeline of enhancements.
- Provide training and support to stakeholders and end users in the use of all related tools and systems and related procedures and processes and any changes/modifications as they arise.
- Empower, mentor and develop directly and indirectly at all levels of the business. Develop career paths and coach others to their full potential in a fast paced and delivery oriented environment. Inspire and manage the performance of any direct and indirect reports.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Significant experience performing a similar leadership role within a private industry, with a strong background in IT/software procurement (this is where the majority of controllable expenditure lies).
- Ability to coach, develop and lead direct and cross-functional teams.
- Extensive category management, contract management and supplier management experience gained across a broad range of indirect categories.
- Proven track record of delivering sustainable cost savings, performance efficiencies and risk mitigation.
- Experienced in leading and implementing category strategies in a complex, non-mandated environment.
- Strong knowledge of procurement best practice tools, processes and systems.
- Experienced in change management – rolling out system, process and organisational change.
- Address vendor quality issues as identified by Corrective Action Reports by Data Privacy/Security (as required to be documented for ISO 9001, IATA and ISO 14001).

At Babylon, we reasonably expect the new hire salary range for this full-time position to be $120,000 to $153,000 for all positions located across the US. Individual pay is determined by several factors but not limited to qualifications, experience, relevant education/ training and geographical location. In addition, the person hired into this role will be eligible to participate in an equity incentive plan and comprehensive benefits package such as Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k, FSA/HSA, Life Insurance and a Flexible PTO plan.
