GROUNDS - JOB DESCRIPTION

Reports to: Lead Grounds position / Grounds Manager
Job Goal: To maintain all school grounds in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational/recreational use of them is achieved at all times.
Evaluation: Annually in accordance with Board’s policy
Terms of
Employment: Two hundred sixty (260) days. Salary per Board approved contract.

Education and Training:

1. High school diploma or GED equivalent.
2. Formal training or work experience in the horticultural industry preferred.
3. Such alternatives to the above Education and Training as the Board may find appropriate and public sector acceptable.

Qualifications:

1. Ability to perform the essential physical job functions/responsibilities of the position.
2. Must have a working knowledge of the horticultural industry and a willingness to be trained in any category where additional instruction may be needed.
3. Must display the needed initiative to work independently or work as a team member when required.
4. Must be able to effectively interpret and relay information through both verbal and written means of communications.
5. Possession of a valid Ohio Driver's License with excellent driving record.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Work as directed by the Lead Grounds.
2. Maintain all records including daily timesheets, work orders and absence requests as required by Management.
3. Patrol assigned areas daily for trash pickup.
4. Perform minor repair and maintenance on equipment.
5. Install and maintain trees, shrubs, flowerbeds and lawn areas according to horticultural standard practices for optimum performance.
6. Perform snow and ice removal as needed reporting all unsafe conditions to

Management.
7. Operate trucks, tractors and other equipment used in the horticultural industry in a safe and professional manner. Follow all safety practices in accordance to manufacturers’ recommendations.

8. Maintain athletic facilities for optimum use.
9. Report all potential safety issues and needed repairs to Lead Grounds.
10. Performs other related tasks as required by the Lead Grounds, Management or designee.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $16.93 per hour
