Global Seeds R&D Digital Project Manager – Research Triangle Park, NC (Hybrid) - 2203401

Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to join our team as a Global Seeds R&D Digital Project Manager (internally titled Junior Program Leader). In this role, you will be responsible for leading projects to implement our global and multi-year Digital Roadmap for Seeds & Traits R&D within the Agricultural Solutions business of BASF. As outcome, in tight collaboration with our international team, you will enable BASF scientists and breeders to make quicker and more accurate data-driven decisions by providing cross-functional and integrated informatics solutions. Your work will contribute to BASF’s next generation commercial seeds products which address the challenges of sustainable supply of food and fiber for a growing world population.

As a Global Seeds R&D Digital Project Manager you create chemistry by…

• Leveraging your bachelor’s degree (e.g. Biology, Biochemistry, Agriculture or other science field) and your relevant, hands-on project management experience, you will agree on scope and business outcome with the sponsor and the stakeholders, build a high-performance project team, and actively lead the project team in an analytical mindset from functional analysis and technical analysis to implementation, user test, and rollout, addressing impacts to other projects and dependencies as well as change management with the user community.

• Your experience with IT systems, such as designing, programming, gathering requirements or providing input for improvements supporting business process will be instrumental to your success.

• Relying upon your understanding of the agile way of project management as well as the usage of scrum with the DevOps teams for implementation, you will lead the team in effectively reacting to changes in business requirements, changes in relative business priorities for feature implementation, or unanticipated technical issues that arise.

• Demonstrating your excellent collaboration & communication skills and ability to work within global and diverse teams as well as with external partners and vendors where appropriate, you will set common expectations among the stakeholders and the project team, provide regular updates on progress on milestones, and drive resolution of any issues or conflicts – for example, balancing local-regional-global perspectives and technological opportunities with cost efficient implementation schemes and stakeholder requirements – that that must be solved to achieve the business outcome.

• Utilizing your scientific knowledge and experience, preferentially in the field of plant biotechnology including molecular analysis (trait and gene discovery), (predictive) breeding, lab data management systems, and your ability to understand business requirements to translate these into implementation plans, you will ensure that nothing gets “lost in translation” in creating future-proof digital solutions that are accepted by the user community and achieve the agreed business outcomes, while being technically & financially sustainable.

• Your digital mindset and your passion for improving processes enables you to think out of the box as you brainstorm with stakeholders about how to design digital solutions that will advance BASF’s overall R&D capabilities; colleagues seek out your advice and expertise.

• Your responsibility for targeted business outcomes continues with Product Management. You define the product vision together with stakeholders and ensure that the product is continually improved according to prioritized stakeholder requirements, while being maintained as efficiently as possible; this includes managing relationships with any external partners and vendors upon which the product depends.

• You are in regular dialogue with colleagues working on related projects as also with the Seeds R&D Digital Team that is driving our overall Digital Roadmap, with the goal that we are one interconnected global team promoting digital solutions that enhance our overall R&D capabilities.
