The Library is a new wine bar opening this summer in the up and coming Spring Branch neighborhood and we are looking for an energetic and entrepreneurial General Manager. This person will oversee the operations of the wine bar and report directly to ownership. The Library will feature over 1,500 books on every wine topic imaginable on bookshelves throughout the bar, which anyone is free to read. We will also feature an extensive list of old and new world wines from classic wine regions, including many aged wines. We are excited to find a GM who can bring a fun and engaging attitude to the neighborhood and is motivated by the challenge to bring a fine wine experience to Spring Branch.

Location: 8510 Long Point Rd, Houston

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the day-to-day operations
• In charge of ordering and receiving all wines, food, etc.
• Meet business goals for revenue, COGS, etc.
• Regular reporting to ownership on revenue, expenses, sales trends, etc.
• Maintain accurate inventory of all wines, food, etc.
• Maintain wine list and BTG list according to the business’s strategic vision
• Work the floor to assist guests in ordering, address any issues and encourage a feeling of community and hospitality
• Assist in hiring of staff
• Create employee schedules
• Organize and lead regular staff training
• Assist in marketing efforts and promotional events
• Address guest or employee challenges with patience, respect and hospitality focused solutions

Requirements

• Passion for wine, hospitality and education
• 2+ years of experience in wine service
• Previous management experience preferred
• Must have full time availability and flexibility to work nights and weekends
• Detailed knowledge of classic wine producing regions
• Comfort navigating a comprehensive wine list and discussing with guests of varying wine knowledge/interest
• Fine dining experience preferred
• Previous experience storing, serving and discussing aged wines
• CMS certification or interest in pursuing preferred
• Ability to think on your feet and solve problems as they arise
