Summary/Objective:
The General Maintenance Worker will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems. This position will handling multiple locations including office buildings and a hotel.
Responsibilities:
- Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair.
- Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs.
- Plans repair work using building’s blueprints or equipment manual as needed.
- Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.
- Performs routine maintenance on building systems and/or swimming pools
- Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities.
- Orders supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Program TV's and perform general housekeeping and engineering-related inventory duties.
- Monitor fire Alarm / Life Safety System systems as necessary, to be fully informed of the system operation and to handle emergencies involving the systems.
- To be available for any emergencies and act in an engineering capacity to protect guests and associates and preserve the building and its systems during the emergency.
- Perform maintenance activities in hotel public areas like plunging toilets, unclogging drains, repairing all types of hardware, plumbing and electrical equipment and cosmetic items.
Qualifications:
- Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers.
- Knowledge of general carpentry and repair.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
- Read and understand blueprints, schematic drawings, and technical parts breakdown.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Related experience of at least 5 years required.
- On-the-job training offered.
- Prolonged periods standing and walking.
- Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Must pass employee third-party background check and drug screen
- Must carry a valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card and CPR with First Aid certification
- Must carry a valid Driver's License
- Must present a negative TB test result from the past 12 months
