Job description

· Water and feed plants regularly as directed

· Arrange plants so they are visible and attractive to customers

· Space herbs

· Attach labels

· Trim dead and yellow leaves from plants

· Regularly cut back plants

· Keep record of what is planted

· Use and maintain spray, treatment and fertilizer schedules. Add seaweed spray once a week.

· Maintain existing displays and create new display

· Repot as necessary

· Ensure equipment is clean and in good working order

· Keep potting shed neat

· Maintain designated place for tools (don’t leave tools out)

· Check inventory of products on shelves

· Face products as needed

· Restock as products are depleted

· Pull inventory from back stock

· Place items on order sheets

· Ensure labels are on shelves

· Let gardening manager know about products customers are asking for that Wabash does not currently sell

· Make suggestions for new products

· Greet customers – ask if they have questions

· Assist customers with needs/problems

· Assist other areas as needed

· Assist with carry-out

· Inform management if signs or labels are needed

· Use and maintain special order book

· Keep abreast of new trends (e.g. new products, plant varieties)

· Attend plant shows

· Staff Wabash booth at fairs

Experience/Knowledge/Education

· Prior experience working in a gardening store or nursery preferred

· Knowledge of plants and gardening

· Good communication skills

· Comfortable interacting with customers and sharing knowledge

· Friendly demeanor

· Physical fitness – must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $9.00 - $15.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 10 hour shift
• Day shift
• Weekend availability
