What this job involves –
Inspects, tests, maintains, repairs, and installs various types of electrical or electronic alarms and other devices in accordance with manufacturer's specifications, National Fire Protection Association standards, Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), or any Air Force or State of Texas operating instructions. Systems and devices include fire alarm systems, intrusion detecting systems, and others as needed. Installs, calibrates, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) electronic, electrical, and pneumatic controls and associated components such as network controllers or network cabling, and fiber optic cabling systems.

Maintain All Fire Suppression Systems to include Pumps, Engines, and generators: Laughlin has fire suppression systems consist of dry and wet pipe automatic sprinklers, deluge, high expansion foam and fire hydrants. Two facilities are deluge, 46 facilities are wet pipe sprinklers, nine facilities are dry pipe
sprinklers, four facilities are high expansion foam, and seven facilities use pre-action automatic sprinkler systems. Develops computer graphics for the Energy Management Control Systems (EMCS) operational stations. Provides emergency response to elevator malfunctions, sprinkler, and suppression systems.
Performs maintenance, and repairs on fire or security/intrusion alarm equipment and HVAC controls, and suppression systems. The maintenance performed on these items will be in accordance with the local maintenance action sheets (MAS), Preventative Maintenance Task List (PMLTs) NFPAs, AFI’s or the UFC's criteria. As a function of the recurring maintenance, all actions performed will be annotated on the necessary ISO checklist form.

What is your day to day?
Performs tests on fire and security alarm to ensure systems work correctly.
Tests initiating and signal circuits, detectors, and system transmitter and makes needed repairs.
Replace components and wiring circuits.
Tests, troubleshoots, and replaces defective electronic equipment as required to bring fire, security, and HVAC controls back to operational status.
Disassemble malfunctioning instruments and examines and tests mechanism and circuitry for defects.
Use common instruments such as digital multi meters, electronic thermometers, or common hand tools to reassemble instruments and tests assembly for conformance with specifications.
Program electronic controllers via a lap top computer to meet operational
characteristic within the HVAC systems and providing networking or feedback to EMCS system.
Develop desktop computer graphic simulations for HVAC control systems as required to supplement existing computer operations.
Inspect instruments periodically and makes minor calibration adjustments to Insure functioning within specified standards.
Adjust and repair final control mechanisms, such as automatically controlled valves, and damper operators or positioners.
Calibrate electrical, electronic, and pneumatic HVAC controls according to design parameters or proven control loop schemes. Use engineered drawings, statements of work, and technical manuals to determine locations for underground, buried, and aerial cable systems.
Repairs fiber optic cabling system by replacing connectors or splicing. Installs and repairs network cabling systems or transmission lines to and from HVAC controls, fire alarms, and security systems.
Ensures techniques, materials, and accomplishments are according to technical standards, and specifications and engineered directives.
Conducts various tests or experiments, which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurements.
Assist in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials, which are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts.
Determines materials needed for repair work, and or new installations and prepares requisition.
Use portable radios to communicate with supervisors, and service call desk.
Maintains accountability of personal tool issue and follows shop procedures concerning shop tool issue.
Maintains company vehicle cleanliness, ensures vehicle has proper maintenance was performed, and performs a daily check of the vehicle to ensure correct levels of fluids or air pressure, and inspects for damage.
Performs shop clean-up duties are required by shop supervisor.
Provide fill-in as an EMCS Operator as needed per shop supervisor.
Provides emergency response to inoperative elevators by checking for electrical failures or visual problems.
Not responsible for providing long term solutions or repairs.
Responsible for timely reporting of accidents, injuries, and hazardous situations.
Perform all other work-related duties as assigned.

Desired experience and technical skills
Required
EPA Refrigerant Type Universal Certification.
Texas State License for Fire Alarm Systems
NICET level 2 certification for Inspection Testing and Maintenance of Sprinkler Systems
Comp-Tia Security Plus Certification for Administration of HVAC controls
Elevator Maintenance Training
Class C Texas driver's license.
High school graduate or equivalent.
Received technical or manufacture training on HVAC controls.
Computer proficiency.
Knowledge of hand and power tools.
Five-year similar verifiable experience.
Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment
Ability to understand and have working knowledge of hazardous, safety, and environmental warnings.
General knowledge of all maintenance and construction trades.

Preferred
NICET level 3 certification
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
