Location Note: This a hybrid role for our Melville, NY office. Role is expected to be in person for the first 90 days, then can move to a hybrid schedule.
The Purpose of Your Role:
The Financial Wellness Educator serves a critical role on the Financial Planning team, developing and refining a broad knowledge of the financial planning process by conducting meetings and reviews, eventually establishing the knowledge base necessary to manage an individual book of clients with complex needs. The ideal candidate develops rapport with participants and business owners to enhance the value of our individual AND institutional services.

What you’ll be responsible for:
- Retain institutional business and create cross selling opportunities by providing best in class educational service to advisory clients
- Explain complex financial topics in both group and individual settings
- Attend fiduciary review meetings with Plan Advisors to provide information on market and investment performance and develop an education strategy with plan sponsors
- Conduct educational seminars and 1:1 reviews throughout the year on various topics designed to ensure the holistic financial success of plan participants
- Identify quality opportunities for individual business and refer to them to Financial Planners as appropriate
- Provide education on various financial planning topics with a focus on strategies that address healthcare needs as well as retirement planning.
- Ensure participants make informed decisions for their situation and utilize the plan to the fullest extent possible.
- Partner with Marketing to create and conduct webinars and blog content for clients and prospects
- Communicate the retirement plan via group meetings at the client company
- Support new sales and market development initiatives
- Exhibit understanding of key features and benefits of Sentinel’s products and services
- Stay informed of retirement planning subject matter and investment requirements and products.
- Support new sales and market development initiatives
- Proactively keep supervisor informed of key activities with assigned clients
- Office environment, up to 50% travel may be required

Preferred qualifications:
- Communication – able to respond and exchange ideas clearly and effectively through writing, speaking, and presentations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge and full understanding of mutual funds, retirement planning, tax deferrals, Morningstar and a genuine interest in continuing to learn about such matters, ability to communicate subject matter clearly and in simple terms
- ERISA and retirement plan knowledge (or interest in obtaining the necessary knowledge)
- Bachelor’s degree
- FINRA Series 6 or 7, 63 and 65 or 66 (or interest in obtaining/ability to obtain)
