WARD COUNTY HUMAN SERVICE ZONE
STARTING SALARY: $4,780 monthly for qualified FSS III
Summary of Work
Essential functions of the Family Services Specialist positions are to assess and provide appropriate foster care case management services for children. Develop treatment plans and goals for child, natural parents and foster parents. Refer children and families for appropriate services in attempting to reunite family. Participate in case conference meetings. Provide consultation and supervision for foster parents in relation to behavior management of the child. Coordinate and supervise visitations. Request petitions and testify at court proceedings. Maintain accurate and continued documentation and data input as mandated by State and Federal regulations. Emergency on call for foster care and child protective services. Must be willing to work non-traditional work hours on occasion to accommodate home visits and being on-call for Child Welfare emergencies. Must have the ability to travel as needed and the ability to visit clients in their own homes using personal vehicles when a Zone vehicle is not available.
The Ward County Human Service Zone Director reserves the right to amend the functions assigned this position, either temporarily or permanently, at anytime as they determine in the best interest of their department. Further, employees may be assigned other or additional functions to fill in during the absence of other employees or vacancies in other positions.

Minimum Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, human development, education, human services, child development and family science or criminal justice and two years of professional work experience as a social worker, child protective service worker or professional case manager. A Master's Degree may substitute for one year of the work experience requirement.
If no qualified applicants are found, we will consider filling as a Family Services Specialist II at a monthly salary of $4003, which requires a Bachelor's Degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, human development, education, human services, child development and family science or criminal justice and one years of professional work experience as a social worker, child protective service worker or professional case manager. or a Master's Degree in one of the above areas.
If no qualified applicants are found, we will consider filling as a Family Services Specialist I at a monthly salary of $4003, which requires a Bachelor's Degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, human development, education, human services, child development and family science or criminal justice.
Individuals will be required to work some non-traditiional hours. Because this position requires some transportation of clients, a valid ND Driver's License is required and the employee must have their own automobile and adequate insurance.
