Overview:
The Family Nurse Practitioner at the Bone and Osteogenesis Imperfecta Clinic at the Kennedy Krieger Institute will conduct initial evaluations, follow-up appointments, and/or medication management for patients of all ages with a variety of diagnoses. The FNP will be a part of an excellent team that collaborates with different disciplines to provide outstanding care for patients. The position is full-time, 40 hours per week split 80% clinical and 20 % administrative time.
Responsibilities:
The ideal Family Nurse Practitioner candidate will:
  • have prior experience in pediatrics and/or bone health and genetics;
    • be able to complete histories, physical exams, and assessments; formulate diagnoses; implement plans of care; and complete follow-ups within the appropriate time frame
    • conduct appointments both in-person and via Telehealth format;
    • provide appropriate referrals to therapists and subspecialists;
    • order appropriate labs, imaging, and other diagnostics as needed
  • Participate in diagnostic evaluations, that include genetic testing and imaging and communicate results of testing to families.
    • consult with physicians, when necessary;
    • be a team player and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team;
    • complete documentation, prescription requests, and other administrative tasks in a timely manner;
    • maintain necessary certification(s) and licensure(s);
    • attend all required staff meetings;
    • participate in continuing education that pertains to Bone Health and Genetics
    • effectively communicate with patients and their families;
    • and advocate for and provide strength-based, neuroaffirmative care for patients and their families.
Qualifications:
  • Registered nurse licensure and certification as a nurse practitioner required by the State of Maryland required.
  • Board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner from an approved organization by the Maryland State Board of Nursing, including the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board and the American Nurses Credentialing Center, required.
    • Individual must demonstrate competence across all age groups due to the diversity of the children and adults served by Kennedy Krieger Institute.
    • Clinical care focus is on the pediatric and adult population.

EDUCATION:

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a Family Nurse Practitioner specialty required.
  • Completion of a nurse practitioner program approved by the Maryland Board of Nursing required.


EXPERIENCE


  • Two years of related clinical nursing experience required.
