We are looking to fill several part-time Family Center Staff Workers to join our team. The Family Center Support Staff will help nurture and support family relationships, offer children and families a safe place to play, learn, bond, and implement activities to further enhance family visits and interaction. Family Works has established parenting/relationship programs in child-friendly family centers to help foster increased interaction with incarcerated fathers to make, mend, and maintain relationships with their children.
The program includes parenting classes, strengthening relationship education for individuals and couples, in addition to family counseling. The family centers operate out of five men’s prisons that offer a warm, therapeutic meeting space inside visiting rooms. The centers are open on weekends and holidays from 8:30 to 2:30, so this staff member must be available to work weekends and holidays.
Osborne is looking to fill several part-time vacancies in the following correctional facilities: Fishkill, Sing-Sing, Wallkill, Shawangunk, and Woodbourne. While visiting the NYSDOCCS facilities is currently suspended, we will have openings in the above facilities. As the hiring process is lengthy (including screenings by the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision), it can begin now.
The hourly rate for this position is $15.00. Upon hire, you may be eligible for this position's $500 sign-on bonus.
Requirements:Responsibilities
- Document daily incoming visitors to the center
- Maintain a safe and clean environment in accordance with all safety and infectious control policies per CDC and NYS DOCCS
- Reports observed behavioral, health, or developmental changes in children to the appropriate staff
- Understand the importance of building, maintaining, and/or rebuilding family relationships
- Welcoming to all who frequent the center
- Utilize creative skills for arts/crafts
- Interact with all family members
- Maintain the center as a learning/fun environment
- Keep toys and craft supplies ready for use
- Invite and encourage interactive play between family members
- Performing other duties as required
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
Experience
- A minimum of one year’s experience working in a family services background preferred
Additional or Relatable Skills
- Must be dependable and professional
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Enjoy working with children
