Primary Objective: Skilled position performing primarily HVAC maintenance on all school buildings and structures. An employee in this class will be responsible for tasks requiring skills necessary to adequately conduct all aspects of maintaining the infrastructure of school buildings, as well as, the general upkeep of facilities and grounds on a day-to-day basis. Work is performed under the supervision of the Director of Operations.

Essential Functions:

• Performs HVAC duties and informs supervisor of needs
• Conducts necessary preventive maintenance duties on all buildings, structures, and equipment
• Performs minor carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work relating to building and equipment maintenance
• Requests materials, supplies, equipment, and tools as required to perform duties
• Servicing of lighting and equipment and related circuitry
• Ability to replace defective ballasts, circuit breakers, receptacles, wiring, fuses, fans, motors and control wiring
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3-5 years experience in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), general electrical and building maintenance, or an equivalent combination of experience or training
• Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) required (Automated Logic preferred)
• Must be able to do the following:
  • Safely work off of ladders, scaffolding, powered lifts and rooftops at high elevations
  • Perform work in confined spaces (utility tunnels)
  • Spend long periods of time standing, crouching or kneeling
  • Work in extreme heat or cold either outdoors or indoors (boiler rooms, walk-in freezers, etc.)
  • Regularly lift items in excess of 50 lbs., and occasionally up to a 100 lbs.

Education: Associates Degree in HVAC/R preferred. Certificate in HVAC/R, and current EPA Section 608 certification required.
