Besos Tapas & Wine Bar is a vibrant Spanish tapas restaurant and bar that features Barcelona-inspired hot and cold small plates, designed to be served and enjoyed tapas-style. Al fresco dining, combined with an outdoor wood fired pizza oven serving Neapolitan pizzas along with guest interaction, exceptional ingredients is a chefs dream. You will collaborate with our Culinary Director to build the BOH team and use your creativity and experience. Demonstrate leadership, development, support and motivation to kitchen team members, by creating a positive environment that encourages ownership and accountability; attracts and retains a diverse talent pool while meeting or exceeding business results. Create and develop unique food offerings that highlight seasonal produce and provide our Guests with a variety of selections. Set trends and innovate unique culinary experiences by using both classical and cutting edge culinary techniques. Role model exceptional culinary skills and cuisine savvy while meeting or exceeding business results.

What You'll Do

  • Plan and direct all food preparation and culinary activities for a la carte and private party dining
  • Modify and create new menus, seasonal items and specials that meet quality standards and exceed guest expectations
  • Collaborate with FOH Managers to ensure seamless communication, execution, and a "one house" culture
  • Estimate and monitor food requirements, ingredient lists, food and labor costs; partner with F& B Director to identify variances and suppliers
  • Recruit, develop and manage kitchen staff. Promotion within.
  • Rectify arising problems or complaints; maintain a positive and professional approach with co-workers and guests
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards; arrange for equipment purchases and repairs
  • Attend management team meetings, perform inventory, maintenance and other administrative duties as required

What We Look For

  • 5-7 years Executive or Chef de Cuisine experience in high volume upscale casual restaurant(s); additional years experience as #2 Sous Chef developing menus & specials may also be considered
  • B.S. in Culinary Science, or related training/certification
  • Demonstrated recruiting/hiring and staff training skills
  • Accountability for restaurant financials (P&L, COGS, labor costs, etc.)
  • Computer savvy; MS Office, restaurant software and web-based tools (Positouch, ShiftNote, OpenTable, etc.)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
