Darling Ingredients is seeking Equipment Operators / Production Associates to join our plant in Winchester, VA. This is a key role you will be responsible for operating the cooking and processing equipment to produce meal products ready for grinding and for further refinement, while also maintaining proper cooking temperatures on all assigned equipment.

We currently have opportunities available on 2nd shift and 3rd shift.

Job Summary:

Maintain safe and productive operation of meat cooker. Operates cooking and processing equipment to produce meal products ready for grinding and for further refinement. Maintain proper cooking temperatures on all assigned equipment.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Perform start-up, operation, and shut down procedures for all processing equipment.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized area.
• Monitor systems associated with processing operation such as but not limited to, condensers, air scrubbers, stabilization, system parameters, temperatures, pressures, motor loads, and steam recording charts.
• Record temperature and steam readings, cooking time, etc.
• Listen for malfunction alarms, and shutdown equipment and notify supervisors when necessary.
• Set temperature, pressure, and time controls, and start conveyors, machines, or pumps.
• Turn valves or start pumps to add ingredients or drain products from equipment and transfer products for storage, cooling, or further processing.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Experience controlling operations of equipment or systems.
• Ability to analyze situations and take corrective actions to run efficiently.
• Reading comprehension – understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
• Able to communicate with others effectively.
• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing effective output.

Physical Demands:

• Climbing stairs and standing the majority of the shift.
• Handle and move 55 gallon drums.

Work Environment:

• Typical industrial plant environment. Must be able to work in a hot and wet environment.
