Lead NA Sustainability efforts to achieve customer needs and deliver KCP competitive advantage, while also achieving corporate sustainability goals. This role will lead NA organizational transformation to drive sustainability strategy, innovation, and commercialization, including cross-category oversight of the RightCycle™ Program.
This individual will serve as a change agent in partnership with NA category, NA Marketing and Global Sustainability teams, who will continue to own NA category-specific and global sustainability initiatives respectively.
Responsibilities:
Sustainability Strategy Development
- Create and maintain a market assessment of NA customer needs, regulations, and changing competitor and waste landscape in order to form a clear strategy and pathway of initiatives to meet both KC goals and create competitive advantage.
- Oversee development of sustainability goals, objectives, and strategic initiatives for each function (Product, Packaging, Supply Chain manufacturing & transportation, Marketing, Capability, Corporate Comms, etc) and across categories.
- Champion sustainability integration into key business processes, such as KCP NA SBP and ABP.
Sustainability Innovation
- Lead sustainability integration into NA Innovation Pipeline, in partnership with category teams.
- Partner with global sustainability to embed “Design for Circularity” lens into IMF framework, Design-to-Value, and any other initiatives that are impacting the product design / materials.
- Lead NA rollout of enterprise framework for measuring value of sustainability initiatives; consider value of incremental sales, churn reduction, competitive landscape.
Sustainability Commercialization
- Develop a comprehensive and consolidated KCP Sustainability Story (environmental, social, & economic components of sustainability) and incorporate into KCP overall message.
- Support deployment through key channels working closely with marketing and sales teams.
- Lead NA cross-category sustainability measurement / calculator initiatives to meet customer and business needs, supported by category and functional teams.
- Evolve social sustainability initiatives: D&I, community service and engagement, charitable donations
- Lead Sales and Marketing Capability, supported by global team SMEs; when to use what in the sales cycle; ensure all customer-facing employees know basic information about KCP’s sustainability advantage, key industry issues, and The RightCycle™ Program
- Develops & maintains scorecard tracking sustainability footprint metrics in line with Global OGSIM and Global Sustainability metrics.
RightCycle™ Program Ownership
- Own and drive the expansion and commercial development of RightCycle across all categories in NA to maximize waste diversion efforts for KCP’s product lines, while maximizing revenue and minimizing cost.
- NA RightCycle growth strategy, including cross-category expansion.
- Customer engagement and enrollment - a strong partner to category/sales teams
- Collection partner strategy and ongoing relationship, including pricing and service expansion and contracts
- Customer-centric service design and development to improve experience and relevance to customers, including work with partners
- Coach and provide work direction to admin/execution lead
- Operating budget ownership
- Act as brand owner in NA for RightCycle, including oversight of claims generation and maintenance of substantiation
Internal Deployment
- Create ongoing cross-functional connection to ensure all functions are working together to map future market focus and regulatory changes and set priorities.
- Framework for communicating future sustainability initiatives to ensure our story remains holistic and consistent across SBUs
- Act as primary NA sustainability liaison to global team, representing NA feedback as KCP progresses global sustainability capabilities and initiatives
Minimum Qualifications:
- 10+ years in B2B marketing and brand/product/portfolio management
- Proven ability to lead strategic and foundational work to drive category growth
- Demonstrated ability to drive projects from inception to in-market execution, utilizing strong collaboration, project management and communications / storytelling skills
- Very strong problem-solving skills
- Exceptional influencer across multiple stakeholders including Sales, Functions, and Senior Management.
- Demonstrated fit with “build and create” culture (i.e. aspirational, solution-oriented, embracing of ambiguity, risk tolerant)
- Track record of capability-building and continuous improvement
- Experience in sustainability preferred
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in related field from an accredited college or university
