Job Description


Red Wing Shoes is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to join the Safety team. The EHS Specialist provides technical expertise and support in the administration of regulatory compliance, permitting, policy and program development and training for supply chain facilities and corporate offices.

Essential Duties:

  • Provide technical support in EHS program and process execution, interpret current risk level, and provide recommendations for actions to make improvements.
  • Support employee safety team initiatives.
  • Partner with operations to conduct and participate in standardized inspections.
  • Develop and present training on EHS related topics.
  • Provide support on incident management and root cause analysis efforts.
  • Participate in hazard/risk assessments for a variety of EHS initiatives and provide input on action plans to address any identified issues in partnership with the business.
  • Provide technical and hands-on support for environmental permits and processes.
  • Provide technical support for facility hazardous waste management.
  • Track/analyze local regulatory changes and provide input on compliance issues.
  • Function as the primary site administrator for the EHS Sharepoint site and the Red.e safety site.
  • Function as the global system administrator for the EHS information management system and the primary company contact with the system vendor.
  • Function as the global system administrator for electronic SDS system and the primary company contact with the system vendor.

Qualifications


High School Diploma with a minimum of 2 years related experience in a manufacturing environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 2 years’ experience conducting EHS related inspections, preparing hazardous waste for shipping, collecting safety data for report submissions, and presenting safety training materials; 2-year degree in a related field, experience with database management, and experience managing Microsoft SharePoint are a plus.

Candidates should understand risk assessment and control methodologies; Basic knowledge of safety requirements in a manufacturing setting; Some knowledge of environmental reporting requirements for air permitting.
