Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber Technician – Part-Time afternoon shift, 1:30pm to 8:00pm

The Chamber Technician is responsible for performing administrative, technical, and organizational duties for the clinic to ensure excellent and efficient practices related to patient care, quality, and consistency of care, HIPPA compliance, and relations with patients. Under the direction of the Clinic Coordinator, the Chamber Technician will administer Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) to patients as prescribed by the referring physician. He/she is responsible for the safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chambers, related support systems, and for the safe delivery of hyperbaric oxygen therapy to the patient. The Chamber Technician is responsible for detailed and accurate charting and documentation of patient, physician, and staff interactions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Patient Care

• Follow the company's policies and procedures including those required in the Technician Training Outline.
• Treat patients with hyperbaric oxygen therapy in accordance with physician orders and established company and HBOT protocols.
• Schedule patients and accurately record their appointments in the company’s management software. Follow protocol for appointment changes, cancellations, etc.
• Prepare patients for HBOT treatments using company protocol. Determine patient preferences or specific requests and document them in the patient’s chart.
• Comply with the company’s chamber procedures.
• Keep complete, accurate, and timely patient records as they pertain to treatment documentation.
• Provide informative patient education about hyperbaric oxygen therapy, including appropriate protocols and procedures. Provide company-approved informative articles and information related to HBOT to patients and/or caregivers.
• Communicate clearly with the healthcare team including physicians, providers, and staff as it relates to the patient by following company policy. Follow up with the referring provider if needed to ensure that the ordered protocol is fully understood and documented.
• Track the expiration dates of the patient’s HBOT prescription and insurance authorization on all patients who are routinely treated during your shift. Follow-through with the referring physician’s office to ensure a current prescription. Alert the Billing Specialist in writing if an insurance authorization needs to be extended or changed.
• Review files for new patients assigned to your shift for completeness and accuracy. Follow up to obtain missing information. Make a daily check of each patient’s file for any new or updated information.

Chamber and Equipment Care

• Perform hyperbaric chamber operations and system maintenance as required. Ensure all equipment is well maintained, clean and sterilized as required. Maintain daily and periodic equipment maintenance documentation.
• Order gases, patient equipment, and treatment supplies in a timely manner. It is the responsibility of the technician to schedule timely orders for liquid oxygen so that the on-site supply is never depleted.
• Immediately report concerns about equipment, supplies, technicians, or other concerns regarding the effective operations of the clinic to the Clinic Coordinator.
• Maintain the orderliness and cleanliness of treatment/chamber room.
• Participate in company sponsored safety programs and training.
• Performs other duties as assigned or necessary.

Minimum Requirements

• HS diploma/GED required.
• Completed Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program or equivalent (i.e., military corpsman, emergency room technician)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in English.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to handle multiple responsibilities with minimum supervision.

Primary Location: Los Gatos, CA (Campbell/San Jose area)

Shift: Afternoons

Workdays: Monday-Friday, and an occasional Saturday and Sunday

Working Hours: Around 1:30 PM to 8:00 PM
