Job Summary
Responsibilities of the Facilities Electrician will often cover several departments, as well as central services that link to all the teams in one of our high profile clients. In smaller sites, duties may include more practical and hands-on tasks. Conducts, maintains, tests and repairs electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components. Applies knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation. Provides skilled mechanical and electrical/electronic support.
Job Description
Essential Functions
Assists with troubleshooting and repairs of building and installed systems to include: read blue prints, run conduit, wire & terminate devices, perform quality control testing, diagnosis and repair of circuits, back up generators and automatic transfer switches, low voltage circuitry, high voltage systems and power distribution.
Assists with installation and modification of building equipment systems.
Troubleshoots, evaluates and makes recommendations to upgrade maintenance operations and/or implement savings opportunities.
Possesses competent knowledge of the use and care of tools and equipment used in facility maintenance.
Responds immediately to emergency situations and customer concerns.
Inspects buildings, grounds and equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions.
Inspects new installation for compliance with building codes and safety regulations.
Practices safe work habits at all times.
Complies with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and Company directives as related to building operations and practice safe work habits.
Prioritizes daily work scheduling for self and other technicians.
Assists with training and performance building of other technicians.
Coordinates or oversees the performance of work by third-party contractors.
Performs preventive maintenance functions as directed.
Knowledge and Skills
The ideal candidate will be an independent, self-starter with:
Technical, vocational or on-the-job training in all of the following areas, with an emphasis on electrical or similar experience and education.
Possesses and maintains a State Electrical Certification.
Proven record of providing excellent internal and external customer service.
Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in maintenance work.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
May be only maintenance staff member on duty during certain shifts; may be required to work extended periods of time without relief when responding to priority/emergency situations (including overtime type assignments); may require shift work and/or on call duties.
A thorough knowledge of electrical/ electronic components and equipment including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes.
Must be able to work well with all levels of personnel whether individually or in a team environment, and especially must be able to interface and communicate with line operators in order to assist with repairs and troubleshooting.
Requirements
State Electrical Certification
Be able to pass a criminal background requirements.
Have own basic hand tools and battery drill Clean driver’s license.
Education and Work Experience
High School Diploma or GED; equivalent 5-10 years related trade experience in a building-related trade.
Work Environment
Small-to-large, fast paced office environment. Safety glasses required while performing certain tasks. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Exposed to a combination of normal office type environments and shop environments. Regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes and noise Ability to climb in overhead structures, to work beneath machines and in close quarters performing analysis and repair work. Must be highly safety conscious Exposed to high voltage electricity.

The employee may occasionally lift and/or move a minimum of 50 pounds of office or facilities equipment (pumps, tools, ladders) and ability to safely install rigging/lifting devices. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
