The ideal candidate will build panels to support the Service Division proposals and customer demands by interpreting project plans and executing panel builds to specifications and industry standards. To be successful in this role, mechanical inclination and electrical knowledge is a must.

This position is bound primarily to the panel shop at the Indianapolis location with occasional travel to customer locations during normal business hours. A clean driving record is required. This role comes with a competitive compensation plan and as well as excellent benefits.

Electrical Panel Builder Responsibilities:

  • Assemble enclosures and terminate wiring per project drawings and management direction.
  • Fabricate wire controls and electrical panels for customers in shop and on jobsites, including mounting components to panels and enclosures.
  • Build complex panels from scratch including the assembly of field control enclosures, push buttons, horn, beacons, etc.
  • Understand dimension and layout of panels and assist in design review of schematics
  • Ability to wire electrical panels to ensure accuracy of operation and design, routing and bundling of wire and cables neatly to meet company expectations and industry standards.
  • Use hand/power tools for fabrication and wiring control and electrical panels, such as screwdrivers, drills, wire strippers, crimpers, etc.
  • Print tags and label components as required by electrical schematics.
  • Troubleshoot panels as needed to eliminate wiring errors or component malfunctions.
  • Maintain an organized workspace.
  • Must be able to simultaneously handle multiple panel fabrication efforts at a time.
  • Occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions on customer job sites, which may include loud noises or extremely hot or cold temperatures.
  • May be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
  • Communicate effectively with all Service Division team members.
  • Monitor and maintain proper safety standards throughout the facility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements for the Electrical Panel Builder

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical school or continued education is a plus.
  • Experience with panel building preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical theory and terminology is required.
  • Must be willing to work some paid overtime as business needs arise.
  • Attention to detail, organization skills and ability to work independently or with a team
  • Results-driven personality a plus.
  • Strong communication skills whether written, verbal or otherwise required especially using moderately complex terminology and concepts.
  • Must be willing to travel locally with occasional overnights and have a clean driving record.
