SUMARY:
Deep Mile Networks has an opening for an eLearning Instructional Designer to join our team in support our work with Defense Health Agency to develop eLearning content for Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS (DOD’s new Electronic Health Record).
The eLearning Instructional Designer will be responsible for creating the visual elements of eLearning courses and other training materials for the Learning and Development Team. This includes the creation and design of learning and practicing experiences, as well as the creation of learning courses including, graphics, animation, video and audio. The goal is to facilitate learners in acquiring knowledge, skills and competencies in an effective and appealing manner.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Use the Adobe Creative Suite and Adobe Captivate, design the graphical and animated content that goes into Learning and Development course material.
- Create engaging learning activities and compelling courses that enhances engagement and knowledge retention.
- Apply adult learning theories and instructional design methodology
- Research, recommend, produce and edit training materials for a variety of delivery methods including eLearning, instructor-led, and blended learning
- Participate in the needs assessment, design and development of product, role, and competency specific curriculum design documents
- Interact with Subject Matter Experts in planning and scoping requirements for curriculum
- Function as part of the curriculum team and independently in the design, development, and testing of instructional materials
- Review curriculum offerings from team members, providing feedback and suggestions for improvement; contribute to new curriculum and/or program ideas
- Contribute to storyboarding, authoring, and development of e-learning content and blended learning solutions
- Confirm learning objectives throughout the course development and piloting processes
- Design and develop supporting learning aides for print, classroom, and on-the-job training materials
- Develop assessments, tests, quizzes, surveys and evaluations for each course
- Work within a training team with Subject Matter Experts in the planning, development, and execution of annual training events
- Understand instructional design end goals and create graphic design content that matches them.
- Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface and the finished product.
- Ability to follow strict brand guidelines as well as other graphical and written standards.
- Apply tested instructional design and graphic design theories, practices and methods.
- Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process.
- Create supporting training content that includes (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc.)
- Help decide on the criteria used to judge a learner performance and assist in the development of assessment instruments.
- Maintain project documentation and course folders.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of a BS in graphic design, instructional design, educational technology or similar.
- Proficiency with Adobe Captivate, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premier, Acrobat, Microsoft Applications, Learning Management Systems, Content Management Systems, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Minimum: 1-year graphic design related experience.
- 3+ years of corporate e-learning development and instructional design experience
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Adobe Captivate and Microsoft Office. HR specific software knowledge a plus.
- Proven working experience in instructional design, graphic design and with instructional technology a plus.
- Excellent knowledge of design theories, learning theories and instructional design models.
- Visual design skills (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premier) and ability to storyboard. Soft Skills: willingness and ability to learn from other departments, good verbal and written communication skills, strong time management skills, strong organization skills, can-do attitude, sense of urgency, ability to take constructive criticism and strong work ethic.
