ROLE OVERVIEW
The EDI Analyst is responsible for the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) transactions including HIPAA 270/271 eligibility inquiry and response, 276/277 claims status inquiry and response, and 278 referral/prior authorization transactions. They will work with claims and payment teams on the HIPAA 837-Health Care Claim and 835-Health Care Claim Payment/Advice. They will also work collaboratively with information systems staff, government and third-party payers, and clearinghouses.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage EDI enrollments, for existing and new business encompassing remittance advices to billing systems as well as managing incoming reimbursements to designated banks
Responsible for directly supporting the EDI needs
Leverage EDI knowledge in claims, enrollment, eligibility, and financial systems in day-to-day operations
Coordinate trading partner implementations
Respond to inquiries from vendors and payers regarding EDI enrollments for claims payments and clearing house activity
Troubleshoot problems and deploy solutions to resolve issues
Conduct root cause analysis to prevent future problems and/or process improvements
Collaborate with regionally dispersed team members
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree
1+ year of experience working with EDI transactions in a healthcare setting
Intermediate to Advanced desktop skills including Microsoft Excel
Strong verbal and writing communication skills for a variety of audiences
Ability to manage multiple tasks with ease and efficiency
Strong problem-solving skills
