Job Summary

Operate Dye Machines to attain proper color shade to lab standards based on color ordered from customer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Follow supervisor’s instructions on priority items and colors.
• Approve color by matching to lab standards. Maintain color history cards and provide the lab with dye samples of approved colors
• Utilize beam train and beam hoist to unload dye beams and to load natural beams into machine. Place dyed beams in staging area for dryer operations
• Prepare machine for operation by locking all safety devices. Locate and read formulas for correct color and calculate additions if necessary
• Weigh the correct amount of dyestuff and chemicals to achieve correct color (respirator required)
• Start machine using the correct pattern number depending on color type
• Perform visual checks to machine to ensure correct operation; also check for folded tape
• Record production on a daily production sheet
• Complete and scan dye job cards to show work in process

Qualifications and Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED (minimum)
• Must be able to stoop/bend, reach/stretch, stand/walk and lift up to 55 lbs. and push up to 750 lbs.
• Must pass the Munsell Color Test
• Must pass a Respirator Fit Test
• Must be willing to cross-train in all areas of Dye Department

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is required to wear appropriate safety protective equipment at the proper times and in the proper environments as required by safety program rules.
