Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and motivated cooperative education (co-op) candidate to join the Drug Metabolism & Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) Department located in Ridgefield, CT. As a co-op student within the non-clinical DMPK (ncDMPK) group, you will be conducting in vitro experiments to evaluate interactions of drugs with membrane transporters. Data from these studies will then be using to predict or corroborate clinical outcome. Additionally, you will be able to learn the process of small molecule drug development while collaborating with experienced scientists.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conduct experiments to evaluate drug-transporter interactions using established in vitro models such as human hepatocytes, transfected cells, and isolated membrane vesicles.
- Investigate the applicability of novel hepatocyte systems to study drug transport.
- Interpret data generated and effectively communicate findings.
- Comply with applicable regulations and perform all work in a safe and responsible manner.
- Maintain proper records in accordance with SOPs and corporate policies.
Requirements:
- Undergraduate student (junior or senior) in good academic standing
- Major course of study in the biological sciences
- Completed at least 12 credit hours in chemistry, biochemistry, and cell biology
- Cumulative GPA (from last completed quarter) must be at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)
Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities:
- Basic understanding of chemistry, biochemistry, and cell biology is desired
- Ability to work in the laboratory independently following training
- Ability to quickly learn how to operate analytical instrumentation
- Experience with aseptic cell culture techniques would be highly beneficial
- Effective writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction
- Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
- Must be 18 years of age or older
