The DOT Compliance/Safety Manager will oversee all DOT and safety compliance standards for Federal, State, and company specific risk management. They will work to improve safety performance and provide administrative support for all divisions for corporate safety.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and assist in enforcement that all company fleet and drivers are in compliance for DOT regulations including HOS, Maintenance, Safety, Hazardous Materials, and Placarding
  • Develop and implement programs to reduce safety risk and improve the overall safety of the company (i.e. safety score)
  • Dispute all DOT errors and incorrect violations
  • Participate in investigations on all commercial vehicle crashes for infraction of company policy, maintain records, report all accidents to insurance carriers, maintain DOT federal accident register
  • Assist with safety training for employees on policies, regulations, and procedures as well as potential improvements
  • Implement policy and improvements for operations within the company
  • Conduct driver training of DOT regulations, Hazmat, and other duties of the role and driver record keeping
  • Conduct daily audits of drivers to ensure compliance and productivity through a fleet management system
  • Utilize fleet management software and dual facing camera systems to ensure safety and training opportunities
  • Ensure training materials are up to date and that necessary supplies are available and kept up to date

Required Skills:

  • Associates degree in Business or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years direct experience directing DOT, Health & Safety trucking regulatory compliance & risk management programs
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Federal and State DOT, Health & Safety trucking regulations, especially the DOT's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, Hazardous Materials Regulations, Drug & Alcohol Regulations
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to direct and achieve priorities, goals, and strategies with limited supervision
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to appropriately target communication for Operations and Management to interactions and meetings with a variety of Federal and State stakeholders
  • Proficient knowledge of computers and typical production software
  • Strong attention to detail, and taking action to meet compliance regulations
  • High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office 365

Preferred Skills:

  • CDL Class A with Tanker and Hazmat endorsements
  • Experience in the fuel industry
  • OSHA, DOT, or FMCSA certifications

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to safely walk upstairs (e.g., truck racks, etc.), ascend & descend ladders (e.g., storage tanks, tankers, etc.), and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Very good physical mobility and dexterity to inspect conditions of Trucking Assets (top, bottom, side, etc.).
