We are seeking a Director of Nursing to join our team of dedicated nurses to oversee, develop and direct our team of highly talented nursing staff.
JOB SUMMARY:
To coordinate total nursing care for residents using nursing standards and the nursing process. Participate in resident and family teaching. Provides leadership, works cooperatively with other health care providers. Minimum of 2 years experience as Director of Nursing preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct and assist nursing and allied services and personnel in achieving the stated philosophy and objectives of Wesbury.
  • Directs, supervises, delegates and evaluates all aspects of nursing service, resident care and advises and coordinates with allied/service programs
  • Organize and establishes priorities, provides leadership and ensures compliance with regulations
  • Maintain communication and promote cooperation
  • Assists on the development and maintenance of resident care policies, standards of practice, policies and job descriptions as related to nursing
  • Prepares nursing budget, responsible for fiscal management of nursing services
  • Responsible for overseeing the professional and staff development programs and continuing education
  • Responsible for overseeing the coordination and provision of orientation to new staff and in the clinical experience of staff and students
  • Support TQI Concepts using teamwork, participation and cooperation
  • Conducts management and staff meetings or provides written communication that provides feedback from staff to nursing administration and vice versa
  • Assesses and recommends supply and equipment needs for nursing department
  • Ensures appropriate care planning is correct and promptly and efficiently for residents including rehabilitative and restorative care needs.
  • Assists with scheduling hours of work and with assignments of duties
  • Ensures appropriate administration, procedure and control of medications in cooperation with Pharmacy Services.
  • Coordinates nursing department activities with those of other departments. Work with Social Service Department on admissions and discharge planning
  • Work with Admissions Coordinator, Administrator and Reimbursement Coordinator to facilitate admissions to facility.
  • Assist with providing for social, psychological and spiritual needs of residents
  • Assure proper handling and emergency care of residents, visitors, and personnel
  • Participate with coordination of emergency measures for all code or disasters occurring within the facility.
  • On call for consultation and emergencies
  • Assist with or performs duties of licensed personnel when necessary
  • Devise and implement new techniques and procedures for more efficient and economical use of nursing and allied services for improvement in care and services
  • Continuously analyzes and evaluates services rendered, advise and consult with Executive Director, Medical Director, Administrator on nursing policies and resident care
  • Works as a liaison with attending Physicians to provide optimum care
  • Ensures required reports are prepared and submitted as needed
  • Maintains required records, reviews, updates or revises policies and procedures as related to nursing services
  • Promotes public relations, is knowledgeable and supports guest relations policies and programs. Promotes environment in which the resident care team can work cooperatively toward objectives.
  • Hires, orients, schedules, evaluates, commends, counsel and recommends the termination of assigned staff with the assistance of Human Resources
  • Participate in administrative staff meetings
  • Works closely with Administrator during state surveys and visits. Will be responsible to help implement plan and correction.
  • Will be knowledgeable in completing Event Reporting to DOH, ACT13 and PB-22
  • Will be available to Cribbs Nursing Staff for reference information and advice
  • To oversee and assist the NATCEP Coordinator in the overall development and functioning of the program.

REQUIREMENTS:
Completion of state approved Registered Nurse Program and must hold a current PA nursing license and must have basic CPR Certification. BSN preferred. Previous experience in hospital or nursing home preferred in an administrative capacity. Sense of responsibility, moral integrity and common sense. Sincere desire to work with elderly and lead people. Patience and compassion essential. Pleasant, cheerful, tactful, courteous when handling residents and/or families. Ability to work with other department heads and staff. Must adhere to Wesbury's personnel policies and practices including, but not limited to, the attendance requirements. Minimum of 2 years experience as Director of Nursing preferred.
