Director of Finance
Job description
This position is for a Head Start-Child Care Non-profit agency.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Maintain proper documentation of all expenditures;
Ensure that all procurement, payroll and accounting transactions are completed properly and in accordance with Federal, State and Local regulations;
Analyze agency’s current financial condition and prepare reports with a narrative explanation of over budget items for the Executive Director, Board of Directors and Policy Council;
Provide information regarding expenditures incurred and available budget items for the service area managers;
File all required monthly and/or quarterly financial reports with appropriate funding source agencies;
Ensure audits are performed as required and address any questions that may arise during the audit engagement;
Ensure that all financial reports and records are maintained accurately and promptly;
Ensure that payroll, payroll tax reports are completed accurately and filed timely;
Ensure that all invoices and accounts receivables are entered into the accounting system accurately and timely;
Prepare with input with the Executive Director, the agency annual agency wide budget for submission to the Board of Directors and Policy Council for review and approval prior to submission to the funding source. This includes the application for submission to the funding source.
Ensure that the agency maintains adequate insurance coverage;
Reconcile all bank accounts on a monthly basis and make appropriate adjustments are needed;
Review and approve all general journal entries prior to entering into the accounting system;
Prepare the cost allocation plan for distributing costs to the benefiting programs;
Prepare the allocation of all costs contained on all invoices and post all payables into the accounting system based on such allocations;
Research, interpret, revise and/or create policies related to financial matters as needed to be in compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations;
Summarize In-Kind Hours and amounts to be recorded in the accounting system on a monthly basis;
Supervise and provide direction to the Financial Management/human Resource Specialist that includes monitoring job performance and complete annual employee evaluations.
Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Finance, Accounting and or a related field.
Head Start Experience a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour

Experience:
- Accounting: 5 years (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- CPA (Preferred)
