Job description
The Braddock Carnegie Library Association (BCLA), a 501c3 National Historic Landmark located in Braddock, PA, is seeking a Director of Development to oversee the BCLA’s fundraising efforts, to develop a comprehensive fundraising plan, and to manage financial relationships.
Maintain and expand individual donations (15% of goal)
- Create and manage annual appeal(s)
- Create research profiles of major donor prospects
- Develop a portfolio of major donors
- Provide staff support for major donor portfolio of Trustees and Executive Director
- Solicit current and former Trustees
Research and develop foundation support (50% of goal)
- Match foundation interests with BCLA priorities
- Manage relationships between Foundation staff and BCLA
- Write grant proposals
- Create stewardship reports
Develop government relationships (25% of goal)
- Work with lobbyist and/or consultant to identify grant opportunities
- Manage relationship between elected officials and BCLA leadership
- Write grant proposals
- Create stewardship reports
Develop fundraising events (10% of goal)
- Plan and manage at least 2 events per year
- Secure sponsorships
- Secure media publicity
- Recruit and manage volunteer committees for each event
Data Management
- Maintain a donor data base using Donor Perfect:
- Update contact information
- Note appropriate salutations for mail-merges
- Track solicitations, return on ask, volunteer assignments
- Record, book and acknowledge all gifts
- Send pledge payment reminders as scheduled
- Prepare monthly or quarterly reports to the Board
Oversee BCLA staff on communicating development news:
- Plan and create quarterly newsletter
- Plan and distribute 2 non-solicitation mailings per year
- Plan and create an annual report
Skills and Qualifications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Organizational, time management, and problem solving skills
- Certified Fund Raising Executive certification preferred
- Ability to lead and direct others
- Knowledge and experience in grant writing
- Knowledge and experience in CMS, specifically Donor Perfect
- Experience in planning fundraising events
- Minimum of five (5) years fundraising experience in a non-profit organization
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
