Director of Communications and Marketing
Job description
The Seven Hills School seeks a Director of Communications and Marketing to begin in June, 2023. The Director, a member of the school’s senior leadership team, reports directly to the Head of School and manages a high-performing team, including two full-time staff writers and an established team of freelancers.
The Director is charged with strategic planning and execution of communications and marketing programs to enhance the awareness and perception of The Seven Hills School among current and prospective customers.
Specific responsibilities include:
Internal Communication
- Orchestrating internal communications to foster pride and loyalty among the school’s current and alumni families and to support the school’s enrollment management and fund-raising efforts.
- Managing production of the school's semiannual magazine, the annual report to donors, and other school publications.
- Supervising the writing, design, and production of weekly electronic newsletters and biweekly news summaries
- Supervising the curation of content and messaging on the school’s social media platforms.
- Overseeing the updating and maintenance the school’s website
External Communication
- Overseeing the updating and maintenance the school’s website
- Managing and implementing advertising strategy including overseeing creative development, copywriting, and managing the efforts of freelance consultants.
- Overseeing management of media relations, including developing media strategy and media relations.
- Managing crisis communications, when necessary.
Coordination
- Ensuring that all internal and external communication is on-brand, aligned with school and department strategy, and consistent in look, feel, and voice.
- Curating an extensive database of creative assets, including branding marks, photo libraries, design elements, ads, etc.
Successful candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in marketing and communications.
- A proven ability to think strategically and to develop strong collaborative relationships.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Substantial experience in managing high-volume work flow on long and short term timelines.
- Experience with ongoing management and maintenance of corporate websites, strategy and tactics, CMS (Content Management Systems), and copywriting.
- Strong project management, organizational, and internal and external team development skills.
- Significant experience in independent schools (preferred).
